2023 Mclaren Solus GT

Born in the virtual racing world it is wow a reality. The McLaren SolusGT was originally a virtual concept, driven by millions in the world of Gran Turismo SPORT.

A track only car, with its unique monocoque houses a naturally aspirated 5.2 litre V10 engine that revs beyond 10,000rpm and generates more than 840PS. The camshaft and ancillary systems are gear driven, so the engine is free from chains and belts.

It weighs less than 1,000kg and generates 1,200kg of downforce. It’s as close to the experience and feel of driving a Formula 1 car as you can get.

It uses an older Judd engine. No chance it will ever be adapted for street use.

The downforce numbers are like 1,400 kg at 150 mph, which is 400kg more than the Senna GTR and 2,000 kg at 200 mph, which is double the weight of the car

This car demands some serious sets of driving skills, to even tap 50% of its actual potential

McLaren recently brought the Solus GT prototype to the Circuit of the Americas so that its buyers could take it out for a few laps.

The car is bonkers.

The prototype was running detuned for this event: limited in horsepower, top speed, and revs to 600 PS, 270 kph, and 7,000 RPM, respectively. And yet, it could keep up with a Senna GTR on the straights and gained laughably on the Senna GTR in the fast turns. The downforce is real, and it's spectacular.

To think that there's another ~250PS and 3,000+ RPM to be unlocked...
