My guess is lot faster than that. Even the current gen Superb and Kodaiq made their India debut just about a year after their respective global launches. And most European luxury cars now are getting launched in India in around similar time frame or even lesser on some cases - latest bmw x1 getting launched end of Jan 2023 after global unveil in June 2022. As our market grows it will be treated on priority and think India is already in the largest and best performing markets for Skoda though more driven by the introduction of lower end models.

It then begs the question, should we soon to be buyers wait it out for the new gen instead or rather go with the current model ? I mean what will we likely miss, Hybrid, ADAS?

Depends; the petrol and diesel options may get here a lot sooner, but the PHEVs and pure EVs are probably three or even four years away, given that there are pending orders world over that have been put on the backburner, indefinitely due to component shortage.

The outlook for the PHEVs and the pure electrics looks really gloomy at the moment. They went off the Swedish markets a while ago, and now Skoda UK has followed suit in removing the PHEVs entirely from their booking pages. No new orders are being accepted, and Skoda doesn't have any dates for when things come back to normal as of now.

Yeah this is precisely the sort of stuff I would love to have. I am not really worried about Hybrid or PHEV as a good turbo petrol would do for me even in a SUV and it has to be European, hence had booked the Kodiaq. We are so used to these Driver assist features with our Volvo and somehow at the back of my mind, this is nagging me that I am missing out on the Travel Assist features that Skoda offers worldwide in their model range. I mean at least the L&K variant should have had these for the premium asking price. So I am hoping there would be some sort of an official news from Skoda India on the new model range so prospects like us who have booked the current model can take informed decisions.

The new 2024 Skoda Kodiaq (production form) spied during winter testing. To debut in spring of 2024.

Virtually the entire exterior is covered. Despite this, it is perfectly intuited what the general shapes of the vehicle will be like. The exterior design will present many changes with respect to the model that we can currently find in dealerships. It is being developed on Skoda's new design philosophy.

Skoda's seven-seater SUV will eventually succumb to electrification. It will be available alongside a selection of petrol engines with 48-volt light hybrid technology (MHEV). It remains to be seen what will happen with diesel engines. The Kodiaq range will also debut plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV). Two PHEV engines are expected whose 100% electric autonomy will reach 100 kilometers.

Skoda Confirms Next-Gen Superb, Kodiaq debut for second half of 2023.

The first order of business is to give the Kamiq subcompact crossover and Scala compact hatchback a mid-cycle facelift with design updates inside and out. The Enyaq large electric SUV will spawn a Laurin & Klement flagship trim level with all the bells and whistles.

Hiding beneath the green cover is the Elroq, an upcoming electric car positioned below the Enyaq. We mustn't confuse it with Skoda's equivalent of the recently unveiled VW ID.2all as that one won't hit the market until 2025. During the Q&A session that followed the annual press conference, company chairman Klaus Zellmer said we'll get to learn more about EVs during the Explore More 2.0 event in April.

In the second half of the year, Skoda is going to introduce the next-generation Superb and Kodiaq with plug-in hybrid powertrains. While the former has been available as a PHEV for several years, the latter has yet to receive a charging port. It's worth noting the Superb won't be built in the Czech Republic anymore as production is moving to Bratislava where it'll be assembled alongside the mechanically related next-gen VW Passat.

Ahh, the real Skoda's! Would be very happy if they bring in the phev to India, but is that the case? Are they being teased for international markets? Because are they coming back with a diesel as well ?

No, after diesel gate scam and then lots of norms, It is almost impossible that they would bring back the diesel engine. Rather they are moving towards EV.

Wasn't the diesel gate thingy done on a worldwide scale? Inspite of this, VAG continues to sell its diesel cars elsewhere. So why not in India?

The new generations of Škoda’s Superb and Kodiaq models have successfully passed intensive cold testing in the Arctic Circle. The vehicles’ functions, quality and durability were assessed in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. The main focus of these tests was on driving stability, passenger comfort in icy conditions and overall reliability during long winter journeys. In addition, the vehicles had to withstand the extra weight of ice and snow. With the extreme-cold trials completed, testing of the new models now enters the final phase. The new Superb and the second-generation Kodiaq will have their world premieres in autumn 2023.
