The much-awaited 6th Generation Chevrolet Corvette is here...and boy has it lived up to expectations. The new car is shorter than its predecessor and has a drag-co. of only 0.28!! Its the first time that the Corvette has lost its pop-up lights, going for the new NSX-type look at the front end. The powerplant is an all aluminium V8 churning out 400 bhp!! And thats the stock version. Apparently the bad boy Z06 version is going to carry a whopping 500 horses!! The C6 comes stock with wider tyres, bigger cross-drilled brakes...its a car that has been greatly influenced by inputs from the Chevrolet Racing Team.

I love the Corvette, especially the Z06 for the simple reason that its an affordable supercar. For anywhere between $40000 - 50000 you can have an automobile which will embarass a Ferrari with few upgrades. While previous 'Vettes were notorious handlers, the Z06 was the first tight handling 'Vette...and thats with oodles of freeway comfort. The exhaust note is to die for....There was only one major disappointment with the C5, and thats the interiors. Not to worry, the C6 now has amazing interiors too!

If only I had the upcoming C6 Z06 for tommorows drag!!

Nnice Looking Car......Look at the Front Wheel Its NEARLLY Touching the Top Fender. I dont Interiors of any American Car are even K. Except for the Infinity there are hardly any Interior Specialists. Americans have awesome Engines BUT then they dont really Handle that well.

the greatest 'vettes of all time, in my personal opinion -

1960 corvette

1963 stingray

1967-68 corvette L88 - the best corvette ever. though sold in the US, it was originally intended for track use. though chevy rated it around 400 hp for insurance purposes, estimated output was between 550 and 600 hp.

corvette zr1

corvette z06

Lovely picture mate!
The Corvette ZR1 is one of my hot favourites. This C6 is nice too - one of the most affordable supercars money can buy. GM's legendary 5.7 Litre V8 is my favourite V8.

Wow.... the front-right is really loaded up!

About the drag coefficient - the C class has a drag coefficient of 0.27 so you can be proud of that GTO! ;-]

An average family car will have a Cd of ~0.30-0.40 and surprise surprise but a formula one car has a drag coefficient that is TWICE as much. This is coz of the huge downforce needed to keep the car stuck to the road on the corners. A formula one car could drive upside down and the downforce (or "upforce" in this case) would keep it on the ceiling!

I donno about the Sukhoi's Cd...but I'm guessing its GOOD coz its like the F1 car but only its creating lift instead of downforce... and an F1 has a way higher Cd.

Cheers

Well, take the front and rear wings off of an F1 car off, to get a shocker of a cd.

Not for a drag, but had the C6 for 24 hours off Turo. Truly enjoyed cruising 200 miles of California in her. Nothing beats the pleasure of a naturally-aspirated 8 cylinder.
