S69 Ups The Ante In Battle Of The Giants

At the other end of the scale from the A-Class, Merc is building a luxury saloon with supercar performance. As the power struggle between AMG and the German maker's other affiliated tuner Brabus intensifies, the former is working on a new flagship, the S69 AMG.

Producing in excess of 675bhp, the model is set to be the wildest S-Class yet, with a larger-capacity version of the 6.0-litre bi-turbo V12 from the S65 (right). With torque expected to be in excess of 1,000Nm, finding a reliable transmission to handle it will have been difficult - but our sources say engineers have managed to do so. In preparation for the introduction of the newcomer, Mercedes has registered the S69 trademark, along with SL69 and CL69. That means we've got a whole range of flagships to look forward to.

That means we gonna get more and more powerful cars from Merc. [As if i can afford one

] And 1000 NM of torque. Hey the Indian Railways can use it to pul the Rajdhani.

So what happens now? Mercedes has registered the S69 trademark. And AMG's developing the S69 AMG. But it cannot use the S69 name. So, will it 'up' the cc's to 7000. A S70 AMG??

Guys wanna hear something More SHOCKIN THAN THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A S600 V12 doin 0-100 Km/H in 3.3 SECONDS !!!!!!!!!!
All its got is an RennTECH ECU Upgrade and that is it. Dont know how its possible but yet that guy is doing it. That is faster than the Lambos, Porsches & Ferraris Even. Its at the Place of the McLaren F1.
He did 0-160 Km/H in 8.5 Secs & the 1/4 Mile in 11.586 with the speed of 193.17 Km/H. Yea I know the Other SuperCars beat it at the Quarter Mile but yet it OWES SOME RESPECT PEOPLE.

1000nm freaking NM of torque!! 675 Horses!! On what I consider to be the best luxo-sedan yet? Talk about one upmanship, AMG and Brabus are taking this to an entirely different level.

If you had to choose between an AMG tuned Merc, and a Brabus product, which one would it be? Surely the AMG for me

AMG for me too man!

They are there from the very begining of the creation of the car and at every fork in the design and engineering process that MB chooses to stay on the "normal" path AMG chooses the other road!

Mercedes own AMG so it will be no probs

Question is, can it handle the power and more importantly the 1000+nm of Torque.

If the SL55 with around half the torque needs to be corrected so often, i seriously doubt if this car will be anygood on winding roads.

With that sort of power they'll need TCS, ESP and maybe even launch control, if it comes to that.

Hey Grim

This is mindblowing power. 0-100 timing of around 3.5-3.7 secs is easy for the S69. And with 1000+nm on tap ( yea i'm seriously hoping they develop a new transmission considering the Cl65 debacle) this shud be one helluva locomotive.

But my worries still remain. A) the car will still be limited to 155mph, so by the time u've just started exploring the car's potential, its over. B) Even if it does get the new 7-speed auto, i really doubt its full potential will be harnessed. C) and most worryingly is how will this car handle?. AMG Mercs though fast in a straight line cant take corners with aplomb. Ferraris and BMWs do a better job of balancing power with handling. And that's something Mercedes will never achieve.

IMO, buy it for drags. But don't buy it if u wanna go cross-countrying thru B-roads. Understeer might just land you into the next tree and the next ticket up-above.

A) Yes it will definitely be limited since all cars have to be strictly under EU Norms, but this electronic limiter can most definitely be removed as people do in their SL's and CL's etc. Also in Car Tests by magazines also they will probably not use the limiter
B) I doubt it will get the 7-Speed Auto since the 7 speed isn't even yet used for the SL55 for its power. But maybe by time of release of the S69 They will have made it reliable enough
C) Again i think Mercedes may have handled it correctly so that it doesn't have much problems on handling. Most definitely it wont be perfect since a car of such capabilities can never do so. As for the last bit i don't really want to argue. I'm reaaaaaaally tired of BMW vs. Mercedes

Yeah..but stipping the car down isnt considered to be a "mod" ;-]

Man if it does 0-100 in 3.6secs fully loaded with all the stuff that comes on the Sclass with only a software mod i will be truly AMAZED. Stock S600 timing is 4.8secs.
