Next-gen Renault Duster spied testing internationally ahead of debut

The next-generation Renault Duster has been spotted testing for the first time. The spy images leaked online showcase the SUV undergoing road tests ahead of its international debut, expected sometime next year.

The new Renault Duster will be the third-generation iteration of the SUV internationally and will come with major updates, both inside and outside, compared to the outgoing model. The upcoming SUV will borrow its design language from the Dacia Bigster concept showcased in 2021.

While there are no images showing the front of the SUV, it is expected to feature slim LED headlamps with a flat bonnet. The side profile showcases the SUV carrying forward the squarish wheel arches, similar to the outgoing model. The new SUV will also get pull-type door handles at the front, while the rear door handles could be integrated into the C-pillar. The rear of the SUV will get C-shaped taillights, a large roof-mounted spoiler and roof racks.

The new-generation Duster is said to be jointly developed by Renault & Nissan, translating to a Nissan-branded version of the SUV as well. Reports also suggest the new-gen Duster could be offered in 5 and 7-seater configurations. The upcoming Renault Duster will be offered with an ICE powertrain, while some international markets will also get an EV version as well.

Renault has confirmed that it will bring back the Duster to India. Once introduced, the new-gen Duster will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun & Skoda Kushaq, among others.

Re: Next-gen Renault Duster spied testing internationally ahead of debut

Hope it is not going to be another Captur/Kaptur drama from Renault. The duster design grew on me, initially I was like what kind of a design is this and now I actually like it. That being said one thing I have always disliked about Renault in India is their cars scream cost cutting from a mile away.

The Duster was a great car with terrible backing from the firm making it. Glad they are redoing it as there is no AWD or 4x4 in the lower price range which you can think about.

Re: Next-gen Renault Duster spied testing internationally ahead of debut

Renault / Nissan / Ford are standard examples of companies making a great debut with new breeds like their Duster / Ecosport. But, they flogged the horse for way too long and killed it all by themselves. I am quite skeptical if the new gen Duster will make it to our shores anytime soon because the company themselves are in grave danger of going extinct in India. They did not take our market seriously. Sad, but true.

Renault has to bring this ASAP. People have already forgotten Duster. They are the ones who started the CSUV cult in India, and they did not capitalize on the market they created.

No, they did consider our market, but they took the wrong sampling from Maruti. They bought an Alto and Wagon R, stripped them to the core to analyze the cost proportions for their Kwid. (I had a family member work on Kwid at Renault-Nissan then).

They should have taken a sample of a well built and well-priced car to compete in a market like us. When the sample taken is cheap (no offence to any of its owner, including myself) and price it on your brand name, you are bound to fail. For that matter, KIA is a success because they sampled themselves over Hyundai. Not that Hyundai is out of the world company, they are marginally better than many in our market.

Let me guess, they will either:
1) Not offer the once awesome AWD the Duster had
2) AWD is offered but only with MT

Manufacturers need to realise that it's not 2002 anymore

Hope the production version looks close to how the concept does.

These pictures are incredible! If the actual production model looks anything like it, and priced competitively - this could sell well.

This looks fantastic. I hope the interiors are also a step up as well.

Looking at Magnite and Kiger, the company can build a safe vfm product. I hope they throw kitchen sink with this - AWD ADAS Panaromic Sunroof, Ventilated Seats, Turbo Petrol CVT and price it sensibly.

2024 Dacia Duster spy pics shows it has production ready body parts,

It appears to have rear disc brakes and "hidden" door handles.

appears to be larger than the current model and boasts design cues from the Bigster concept. The latter will morph into Dacia's first C-segment model when it'll go on sale in 2025, with production to take place at the same Romanian factory. While the outgoing Duster is 4.32 meters (170 inches) long, its replacement will have room to grow considering the Bigster is going to stretch at around 4.6 meters (181 inches).
Quote:
The new Duster rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Continental 215/65 all-season tires and continues to offer a generous ground clearance. The turn signals have finally been integrated into the side mirror caps while the wheel arches have a more squared contour to make the side profile look rugged. Some of the images show the individual lighting modules of the taillights while the front LED lights are also partially visible.

By switching to the CMF-B architecture, it means Dacia will have the ability to sell the Duster with hybrid powertrains, including a PHEV setup. Maybe not from day one, but a full hybrid is likely planned since the Jogger wagon has already been electrified. Cheaper versions will stick with front-wheel drive while the higher-end versions will be offered with AWD.

Re: Next-gen Renault Duster spied testing internationally ahead of debut

It appears that everyone is aiming to beat the Korean sisters in India. We've been eagerly anticipating this showdown for quite some time, with Honda, Citroen, and now Nissan/Renault all joining the fray. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all unfolds. It's worth noting that the Verna's launch has already shaken up the Kushaq/Slavia.

Re: Next-gen Renault Duster spied testing internationally ahead of debut

Too little too late, or will they define the segment again like they did all those years ago? Hopefully they skip the blingy but not so useful features like lane keep assist etc and just give us a decent diesel + AWD combo in a very good looking package.

Imagine if this comes with the OG Duster suspension set up -- would be a serious contender for one of the best cars of the year.
