They are not made in China, These are direct imports. When people want to splurge big money, they want it imported. Other VW's are made there as also Audi A4 and A6's. Even the A8 is imported as also the 7 series (best selling luxury car there and the 7 series biggest market!)

@Lurker, You are exactly my type buddy. I would also love to be in the back seat of a Superb/Phaeton rather than be in the back seat of am E class or S class feeling twitchy at the attention by keeping under the radar of curious eyes
