Yet, a humble BMW M340i is faster with a time of 4.4 seconds.

Regardless, acceleration isn't everything.

- A puny 2.0L 4-cylinder will never sound anywhere as good as the 8-cylinder.

- A 4-cylinder will lack the creamy nature & refinement of an 8-cylinder.

Both the above points are very important parts of the satisfaction you get from sports cars (or expensive cars in general). It's why an S-Class with a 4-banger has always been frowned upon.

Not to forget, a hyperworked 2.0L will always be more stressed at 120 kmph than a big 8-cylinder.

While performance metrics like acceleration figures, lap times, and electronic aids are often viewed as marketing gimmicks, they may not always reflect real-world usage. Enthusiasts purchasing track-focused machines like the AMG GT are likely less concerned about fuel efficiency.

Despite these advancements, the efficiency of these tuned 2.0 Turbo I4s, generating around 300-400hp, remains questionable. Real-world observations indicate the Defender at around 6 kmpl, Boxster at 4-6 kmpl, and the C43 at a similar 5 kmpl.

Ultimately, regardless of the arguments put forth by stakeholders in the automotive industry, many still maintain that there's no replacement for displacement, a sentiment likely to persist.
