India-bound Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB unveiled in China

Mercedes-Benz has showcased the E-Class LWB at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show. The carmaker offers the E 350 e L variant of the sedan in China, which is one of the few markets where the long-wheelbase version is sold. The right-hand-drive version of the E-Class will be launched in India later this year.

The E-Class LWB is longer, wider and shorter than its predecessor. It measures 5,092 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width and 1,493 mm in height, while its wheelbase has grown by 15 mm to 3,094 mm.

On the outside, the long-wheelbase version looks identical to the new-gen E-Class. The front features a large chrome grille flanked by reprofiled twin-pod LED headlamps with a new LED DRL signature. At the rear, it has slim wraparound taillights with dual star-shaped patterns.

The E-Class LWB gets larger rear doors that should improve ingress and egress. That being said, the interior layout is similar to the standard version, featuring a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a massive 14.4-inch central touchscreen and an additional screen on the passenger side.

In India, the E-Class LWB is expected to get three engine options. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 2.0-litre diesel and a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine.

Re: India-bound Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB unveiled in China

I genuinely hope that the whole Hyperscreen fad dies within the next 5 years. My car is my space, I want it to be relaxing, comfortable, and enjoyable. I do not want it to become another electronic appliance to deal with on a daily basis. Come on Mercedes, don't lose the plot

The problem is all of them are building what consumers want. After Tesla and its huge touch screen in the middle of dashboard, car makers around the world started to put large touch screens everywhere. If I'm being honest, I do want to have a high resolution screen in my car, it does add to the overall experience. But I dont want it to be a touch screen. Give me a 12-15" screen, but with an iDrive controller to handle everything. Reaching out to change settings on these huge screens is really dangerous while driving.
