MG is yet to confirm the powertrain options for the new-gen Astor. Reports though suggest that depending on the market, it will be offered with petrol and hybrid options. The electric version, the ZS EV, is also expected to receive similar updates in the near future.

A welcome change to a good enough vehicle. The interior must keep the sangria red theme which looks amazing in the current on sale model.
I personally would love the hybrid to be introduced here, something the manufacturers have shyed away from to favour BEVs

The front end looks nice, gives me modern day Ford vibes. Interior has gotten a big upgrade, and that screen is a touch too big for my taste. It might just be the images along with the wrap on the car, but it has grown A LOT!

+1

The current-gen Astor hasn't been selling well, here in India, hopefully, the next-gen model irons out the issues in the current gen and offers a better package overall (including engine, mileage etc). The Astor is a good product and should sell well, but the competition in the space is so intense that it hasn't been able to get a foothold and I hope the next-gen changes that.

The MG ZS has always tried to model itself on the hugely successful Mazda CX-5, looks like they've now decided to adopt Ford styling cues.

All said and done, the MG ZS is quite a popular car in the compact SUV category in Australia.

Hi, update is welcome, but they should launch the updated version only as EV because their petrol engine (both NA & Turbo) are not exciting, due to this MG ZS EV sale is impacting.

I feel people don't like to buy a flopped product, even if it has merits over a successful product of competitor. Since Astor is a flopped product due to its engine (FE specially), people generally don't consider MG ZS EV (which is based on Astor), which is a fantastic product at current price.

2025 MG Astor / ZS Hybrid teased ahead of debut

MG has teased the all-new ZS hybrid for the global markets. It is expected to be launched in India as the Astor sometime next year.

The new-gen MG ZS features a wider, rounded front grille, redesigned headlamps and a reworked front bumper. The upcoming model also gets a new tailgate, reworked wraparound tail lights and an updated rear bumper.

Reports suggest the new MG ZS could get a hybrid powertrain derived from the MG3. It is said to be a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor. It produces 191 BHP and is mated to a 3-speed automatic gearbox.

It will be interesting how they price Hybrid variants in India.

Amazing FE figures for a ~200 BHP car.: thumbs up

Exterior styling wise though, its a definite downgrade , the butch SUV styling is gone, the million dollar grill is no more there. I mean, no offence, but it looks like i10 Nios'ish from the front :thumbsdown. I dont see this looking imposing from any angle

The current Astor is a super value for money car in all variants. In fact it has the best interiors in the segment but still manages to sell poorly. Then we have the ZS EV, which after price cuts has been reasonably priced.

If the hybrid variants could be slotted around 16-18L L ex showroom, I'd say we have a Suzuki killer. It would be really funny though, if these cars force the high and mighty Suzuki and Hyundai to bring some well priced mass market hybrids (below the GV).

Looks rather different to the Roewe LoMeMo, upon which it is originally based. There was a lot of flutter online a few weeks ago, and the thought of a hybrid Astor caught my eye. Let's see if this will be worth a buy when it gets launched in India

Maybe it is just me, but the interior of current Astor feel much more premium in design and feel. This immediately gave me Nissan Magnite Vibe, maybe in real life it may appear diffrent, but it is kind of a step-down.

Numbers are really good on paper! Look sleek too, Hope they fix the sluggish CVT. Can MG price this at 14-17 Ex showroom in India (for Hybrid Model) ?

They have got the powertrain spot on. A powerful hybrid would be a great option amidst all the thirsty petrols and anemic hybrids we have in the market today.

But this car looks decidedly dated. Would have looked contemporary back in 2016, when competing with the 1st gen Creta. Today with so many better looking SUVs all around, this would look too plain-jane and boring. MG could have spent more energy while styling the car.
