Skoda Octavia, Kodiaq, Superb ICE versions to last longer than planned

Skoda will become a zero-emission brand in 2033. In the meantime, the manufacturer will extend the career of its current combustion models through restyling, in parallel with the launch of new 100% electric models.

Fabia, Octavia, Kodiaq... how Skoda will make its combustion models last.

While continuing to develop an electric range, Skoda will make its combustion models last longer than expected. From the Fabia to the Kodiaq to the Octavia, plan reveals how long they will last and the evolutions that await them.
There is a lot of turmoil in the automotive industry at the moment, particularly in the EU. Manufacturers must invest massively in electric vehicles in view of the ban on new combustion engines planned for 2035, but "zero emission" models are expensive and their demand is slowing down, hence the need for generalist brands to keep accessible combustion vehicles in their catalogue. The initial draft Euro 7 standard would have got the better of the latter in 2025, imposing emission control systems that are too expensive for small cars at the end of their career. However, it has been relaxed and its entry into force is now looming for 2027

- Three years of reprieve for Fabia, Kamiq and Karoq. Exit by end 2027. EV's like Epiq and Elroq will be the EV equivalents of Polo and Karoq.

Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq plans: The most profit generating models from Skoda

- They are built around the MQB Evo platform, but will not be entitled to the conventional hybrid engines (HEVs) announced by Volkswagen for the same technical basis.

- The current Octavia, launched in 2020 and restyled in 2024, could be offered again as a plug-in hybrid in 2026, with more than 100 km of electric range like the latest models of its kind within the Volkswagen Group.

-In 2027, the Octavia will receive a new update, at the same time as the classic mid-career update of the Superb and Kodiaq

-Skoda is even thinking about offering a third and final restyling to this Octavia in 2031.

-Just restyled, the 4th Octavia of the VW era could be restyled twice more before leaving the market in 2033, after a 13-year career.

-The new Superb is to go through a ten-year cycle until 2033.

-The latest Kodiaq is due to be restyled in 2027 and retired in 2033.

-Production of the Octavia, Superb, and Kodiaq will cease in 2033.

- The first will be replaced by an electric raised station wagon developed under the name X Combi (launch in 2028), the last by a large electric SUV internally named Space BEV (launch in 2026).

-No next-generation combustion Skoda will be launched by then, which means that the brand will become 100% electric in 2033.
