Michelin & Brembo team up to shorten car's stopping distance using real-time data tracking

According to reports, Michelin and Brembo will be working together to help bring down the stopping distance in cars, enhancing the safety of passengers and pedestrians.

As per reports, both companies will develop a new technology that gathers real-time data from their respective hardware. The companies will then share the real-time tyre and real-time brake data, respectively, to come up with a clever way to allow the tyre and brakes to communicate with each other, as well as the car they are mounted on. It is said that the new technology will be able to shorten the braking distance by up to 13 feet, depending on tyre & road conditions.

Testing has already begun, with the tech being subjected to varying conditions. This includes wet & dry tracks, worn tyres and standard & under-inflated tyre pressures; among others. Apart from reducing braking distance, the tech is also said to offer faster response time, improved lateral stability, and better traction.

The upcoming technology, though, is still in its development stages and could take a while to actually make it into production vehicles.
