Kia achieves global sales record; Seltos ranks as the second best-selling model worldwide

Kia has announced the achievement of a new global sales record. The South Korean carmaker, registered 30,89,457 vehicle sales globally in 2024 - a 0.1% increase compared to the previous year.

The carmaker registered sales of 5,40,010 units in its home market of South Korea, marking a 4.2% decrease. However, sales outside of Korea registered a 1% increase compared to 2023, with 25,43,361 units.

Among the global models, the Sportage SUV ranked as the brand's best-selling model in 2024, with sales of 5,87,717 units. The Seltos SUV came in second with 3,12,246 units, while the Sorento completed the top 3 with 2,80,705 units sold in 2024. The growth in sales was attributed to the launch of a few key models, such as the EV3, K4 sedan and the new hybrid Carnival MPV.

Kia aims to further improve its performance in 2025 and has set a target of 32,16,200 vehicle sales globally. Kia announced it expects to sell 5,50,000 units in Korea and 26,58,000 units overseas; along with 8,200 special-purpose vehicles.

It's funny, Kia sold so many Cars in Canada in 2023 that they were caught keeping new cars in storage to create an artificial demand. Also, they had to keep the numbers within a specific target range so that their market budget for the next year does not get slashed.
