Rumour: Porsche developing new 911 Dakar with T-Hybrid powertrain

Rumour: Porsche developing new 911 Dakar with T-Hybrid powertrain-screenshot-20250212-10.50.56-am.png

The current Porsche 911 Dakar saw 2,500 units built, with the last one rolling off the assembly line in November 2024. While it was thought that the model had seen the end of its production life, media reports suggest that Porsche is now developing a new Dakar model and will launch it by the end of this year. The highlight, however, is that the new car will use a hybrid powertrain.

According to Autocar magazine, "senior sources" said that Porsche is developing an upgraded version of the Dakar that will feature the car maker's new T-Hybrid powertrain that's currently in the 2025 911 GTS. It comprises of a turbocharged 3.6-litre flat-six engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with a traction motor installed between them. The combined power output is 532 horses and 609 Nm of torque. The earlier 911 Dakar model made 475 horsepower. The extra power should cut the 3.4 second 0 to 100kph time of the older Dakar. The new GTS does it in 2.9 seconds.

It is speculated that Porsche is developing the new Dakar in its Weissach engineering centre. However, Porsche is refusing to comment on any media speculations.
