2009 Ford Focus RS

Intorducing the all new 2009 Ford Focus RS. In my opinion a pocket rocket with a lot of potential. Not too sure about the green color though, i would prefer red.

"At the heart of the all-new Focus RS is a specially developed, turbocharged version of the Duratec 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine. Significantly revised for high performance, this powerplant is targeting an impressive power output of 300PS and over 410Nm of torque, contributing to an excellent power-to-weight ratio."

"Although the car is still in development, prior to its launch in early 2009, early performance testing indicates a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) time of under six seconds."

The car looks delicious even in this green color. Wonder how good it will look with Red or Yellow color. 300 bhp from 2.5 ltr means the engine will be high spinning one. The chassis definitely is capable enough to handle this huge amount of output figures from engine.

I dont know about the gearbox though.

The car looks neat in green and the alloys too match to perfection. A turbocharged version and need to see how the market responds when its launched.

300 bhp front wheel drive? I have my doubts already. Looks good though!

Me too! Until i read this:

"The new Ford Focus RS is equipped with an innovative front suspension system known as a RevoKnuckle, which is designed to reduce unwanted steering disturbance and torque steer, the impact of torque on steering in front-wheel driven vehicles..."

In Focus RS, the RevoKnuckle works in conjunction with a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing limited-slip differential. Ford Team RS engineers have worked closely with Ford's Advanced Research Centre in Aachen, Germany to develop the RevoKnuckle technology specifically for the high performance Focus RS. It allows the simplicity of a traditional McPherson strut arrangement, but with geometry settings that minimize steering disturbances and torque steer, principally a reduction in steering offset."

Seems to be a well thought out car. Hope i can get my hands on one for a test drive.

Why don't Ford go back to their AWD versions of the Focus RS. I mean it's still a great car nevertheless, but 300 bhp with AWD on a Focus is gonna cause some serious concerns for the Subarus and the Evos.

I've seen a dvd recently where they give a demo of left-foot braking on a Focus RS. Per the commentator, the Focus is one of the most driveable cars in the U.K.
This one has me bowled over, both on looks and on features.
I wonder whey there are 2 head units on this one.

Ford seems to be heading in the right direction. First the KUGA and now Focus. Fantastic design and looks practical at the same time. What segment will it be in if launched in India?

ICE experts can comment on this, but is it because one has an LCD screen pop-up or something like that?

The lower 'HU' is the Climate Control unit, not a CD player
