2012 VW Passat [Illustration]

"The next-generation VW Passat was originally scheduled for a 2013/2014 debut, but look for it to hit showrooms sometime in 2012. "

"Sources say the 3.0L diesel V6 would produce 300 horsepower along with a stout 443 lb-ft or torque. "

"Both VR6 models would be available with VW’s eight-speed dry-clutch DSG and all-wheel drive. "

"Look for the ‘12 Passat to sport an air suspension, a low-friction 4Motion all-wheel drive system, airless tires, a wiperless window cleaning system by Bosch, optional rear-wheel steering, an around view camera, ESP with countersteer assistance, a cruise control system that will know the speed limit, paint that can change color based on the current sent through it, personalized window graphics with message function and LED-film taillights." ---A little ambitious?!?

Oh God , i dont think things like these are like going to keep it in the current price range.
And even as i think , all these features will not make it to the list at all

Kind of Disappointed, I like the current Passat. Headlamps look awful in my opinion.

Only thing thats changed is the front grille and headlamps. Is that all thats gonna change in the Passat in 2012?

IMO, the design will be totally different from the current one.

Mostly they will have better design. The grille is the worst part of the entire deisgn. A better girlle would come up and way.

The headlamps look great. But I would like to say that they should be slightly bigger and hope that eventually bigger indicators also make into light assembly.

VW needs to make better designs than this if they have to survive in that segment till 2012. With the Hyundai Genesis breathing down their neck and the Japanese constantly churning out new models, it doesn't look that promising to me.

And I'm not even talking about its horrible reliability and expensive German spare parts.
