Guy's

My unofficial hobby is now finding the longest travelled W124 merc taxi. Today, rode to the plant in Penang in a E250 D with 600,000 on the clock. Body looked a bit tired, some badly repaired panels, seats were lumpy but when the driver started up, the car went like a bomb with five of us in it.

Am impressed with how these cars last, now to spot a 750000km w124. One of my colleauges commented that buying a merc is a problem, there is no excuse to replace it. Malaysia is W126, W140 heaven, plenty of them around. They also look smarter and "as new" compared to a W210

maybe one day I'll own a Benz and understand what it is that makes 'em so special.

But, not before I'm 50 though! They just seem too "old mans car" for me.

p.s. I'm not talkin about the SL's or AMG's here please, so S350, don't get started on me

Ajmat,

Thats astounding. I would have thought that a petrol Merc would go up to the 600,000 and not a diesel.

While shopping for a used car, I had seen an Accord with 400,000+ miles (640,000 kms+) and that car too started at the first shot. The engine still felt sharp, though was really coarse as you moved up near the red line. I am sure the body and chassis condition was nowhere close to the Merc you sat in though.
