Mercedes Benz will soon make available the SL and the SLK with diesel engines. The SLK will be available with 3 turbo chargers!!Whoaaaa

SL400 CDI: 315HP AND 730 Nm
0-100 Kph less than 6s
TopSpeed 250 kph (limited)

SLK320 CDI: V6 3.0l, 3 turbos

(similar the 535d: 2 small and 1 big) 286 Hp and 630 Nm
250 KPh, 0-100kph 5.3s, fuel-eco 7.5l/100Km

This is awesome...diesels in sports cars....who says diesels are sluggish...

being a diesel fan...i would still prefer a petrol in a sports car. simply because you get more rpms to play with...any idea what is the redline on these engines?

LOL!! I know Rudra. But the fact that even a diesel powered sportscar is possible and nearly as much the same fun as a petrol one just makes me smile. Waiting for the performance of the V12 CDI engine.

So finally we have some diesel sportscars from Mercedes Benz. The SL400 CDI Biturbo, SLK320 CDI Tri-Turbo (Yes TRI-Turbo) and the CLK320 CDI. Specs of the SL400 are not yet released , but it does accelerate to 100 in 5.8s. Quite quick for a diesel.
