New VW Golf VI Photos Leaked

Quote:
Photos of the all-new sixth generation VW Golf have leaked out just a few days prior to its official media release. Set to make its public debut in Paris this October, the hugely important Golf VI represents VW's best selling model as well as one of the best selling models in the world.
Despite positive reviews from the press for its driving performance and attractive interior, exterior design was to blame for the slow selling Golf V in Europe. Additionally, blaming high production expenses as a result of a lengthy per unit manufacturing time, VW brass set out to cut their losses and push development of a new MK VI Golf which is based on the current MK V platform – just nipped and tucked in all of the right places for a faster turnaround time.
For the exterior design, which was overseen by Volkswagen's head designer, Walter de Silva, top execs sought a design that was conservatively evolving off of the MK V yet somewhat sexier with a more aggressive stance as the vehicle gets a more purposeful looking front end plus a hovering slammed effect as the wheels fill the wheel arches nicely.
The Golf VI will have three and five door versions, a rumoured cabriolet and of course the GTI which may get a glass roof. A new 1.6-liter TFSI engine is also said to be on the plans generating about 200 bhp, however, the Golf VI is set to get a new entry level engine below the 1.4-liter TSI found in the current generation. According to Wolfgang Steiger, VW's manager for powertrain research, tells the new generation Golf will offer either a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter engine producing 75 horsepower. A final decision on which displacement will be used is yet to be finalised. It will depend on whether VW management decides on three or four cylinders.
Diesel engines are also expected to equip the hatchback, both in BlueMotion and twin-drive plug-in hybrid versions which are scheduled for release from 2010. The GTI will get even more power than the current model with an engine delivering 230 hp, and an even hotter 4Motion performance edition along the lines of the current R32 producing 265 hp following later.
Stay tuned as official information plus more images is expected to arrive in the next few days.

The front looks inspired by the new Scirocco.

with Ishan. At first glance it looked like a Scirocco-inspired computer generated image or is it?!

How come the car has different alloys in pic # 6? Did they change the alloys for just one pic? Something fishy...

Cheers,

Rajan

Typical Golf, very evolutionary. Front inspired by the Rocco and the killer interior has touches from the EOS.

Nothing fishy. Even the current Golf comes with 7-8 engine choices and probably 9-10 different wheel options spanning the entire range.

But it is the same car in all the pics. So why change the Alloys for one pic? I suspect some PhotoShop activity here.

Cheers,

Rajan

May be True as this is something I got from the net, , but basically these images give a good idea of the car to come. The front looks excellent and much better than the present car.
The interiors are somewhat not good looking as per my opinion, but they are better than the present car. I hope this car makes into our market as Hatch and not as an overpriced sedan!

Golf is a good example of how the character of a model is maintained and yet keeping it contemporary.

Some Initial information:
Quote:
Following yesterday's leak, VW has gone ahead and released initial details of the all new sixth generation Golf model plus hi-res images, although the same ones as before. VW states first sales will begin in Europe this October with Africa, Asia, Australia and North America following in succession. The entry price for the German market is around 16,500 Euros, approximately 200 Euros more than the current Golf V.
The new Golf is described as sportier and more distinctive in appearance than any previous generations. VW Design Chief, Walter de Silva, describes, "It is more accentuated, more three-dimensional than its predecessor; with precisely defined lines and edges, and with finely proportioned flared surfaces and recesses." It is also admitted that the new Golf shares design characteristics with the new Scirocco sports hatch, particularly in “the roof section that now rests on a dominant filled out shoulder section.”
New driver's assistance features include "automatic distance control" (ACC), "adaptive chassis control" (DCC) and the "park steering assistant" bring additional top technologies on board the Golf. For safety, new standard features include a new ESP system with finer response over its control range, further optimized crash properties, seven airbags including knee airbag, the special head restraints (WOKS) that counteract whiplash trauma, a "seatbelt detection" feature debuting in the rear seating area of the Golf and daytime running lights.
Right at the market launch, the Golf will be offered with two 2.0 liter TDI engines making 81 kW / 110 PS and 103 kW / 140 PS. For the first time in the Golf, common rail injection instead of the old pumpe düse injection will be used. Four gasoline engines will be available from launch starting with two normally aspirated engines making 59 kW / 80 PS, 75 kW / 102 PS. Then TSI in either supercharged and/or turbocharged form making 90 kW / 122 PS and 118 kW / 160 PS. Overall, new engine and transmission technologies lower fuel consumption by up to 28 percent and all engines satisfy future EU-5 limits.
With the exception of the entry-level engines, VW's dual clutch transmission (DSG) in either 6 or 7-speed form replaces the automatic transmission
