Top Gear is a big hit not beacuse of the technical aspects of the car reviews. Heck I havent heard JC speak more than two technical matter during the reviews.

Dont we all love Top Gear because of JC, May and Hammond ?. The way they talk , what they talk and the format is what it is all about.

I seriously doubt whether & how much I would love TG if they were not on it.

I still remember JC describing how bad looking cars serve the purpose. And as an example he called Keira Knightley, an ironing board with a face!!!, but who is still effective in movies

Exactly Artofzen.
Its the trio which excites me.

I love when James and Hammond challenge Clarkson in a car vs public transport thing.
Simply amazing.

Yup!! hehehe. But Fiats aside, there are several cars you can get for as low as 10k.

also, a little birdy has told me that some people want to do a Bombay-Delhi dash and beat the Rajdhani!!

To keep us car freaks away from great cars and great humour is simply a crime :(

Aussie version is good as a car show but far from top gear. Though must the second episode was much better than the first one.

Top Gear is a highly successful car show and the trio have amazing experience and knowledge on automobiles. But, having met them, we reckon it is the comical portion of the TV series that makes it a hit. They admit it themselves and if you could recall, they mention it on one of their episodes too. They were shocked by been awarded as an informational TV show.

It is only when you indulge Clarkson in a serious discussion, you realise that he can be serious too. He deliberately adds the comical effect so that the program can reach a wider audience. But, then it is better than Needell reviewing all cars with a smile on his face. We don’t understand the implication.

It is the on-screen chemistry of the trio in TG that wins hearts. They provide information wrapped in a comical tortilla served with giggling sauce on a plate with a clowns’ face. Ultimately, comedies over shadows information in the TV show making its TRPs sky-high because it not alone viewable by car freaks but general audience.

The other versions of TG have not been as successful as the first one because people are so used to seeing Clarkson, Hammond and May together that they cannot digest anyone else. Moreover, they have just begun. In the other national versions of TG, the comical effect still remains and will be understood only if the dialect / local phrases known.

But, yes awaiting to meet them back on the sets for Season 12.

Well they kind of had the first half of this season with the 6 episodes from Season 11 in the summer. And now they're gonna have the second half with 7-8 more episodes to finish it by Christmas.

I think it's better this way since it spaces out the season and reduces the gap between the seasons instead of having all the episodes in one go and then waiting a whole year for the next season.

Yeah I just saw the Down Under version of Top Gear.

People, if you going to watch it keeping JC, Hammond and J-May in mind, you will be disappointed!!
It looks a carbon copy of TG UK. Same studio layout, Laps times, Stig, weird challenges etc. They also do the news, they have a uncool wall sort of thing known as What were they thinking?
But boy can they drift!!! I can say that they drift better than JC and Hammond.
The cinematography of Ford GT was very very nice. An engine start and standstill start of the Ford GT on full chat was awesome. In Holden and Ford they virtually did the whole film sideways. They did pull leg of Brits (expected) and Indians as well!! lol

I liked it as a car show. 1000 times better than our Indians shows. Dont compare even a bit with TG UK you will never enjoy it.
