Hyundai i40 concept car: 2010 launch

These are some concepts of the i40 Hyundai intends to launch in UK in 2010. With this car, Hyundai intends to move from it's VFM positioning to a manufacturer of "desirable" cars that are high on the style quotient.

It will be launched with it's next-gen 2.0 Litre 181 bhp crdi engine. How much of this concept translates into reality remains to be seen.

Mods, I couldn't find a thread for this i40 concept but if a similar thread exists, please move it there.

Thanks

Looks like a crossover from a Hatch to a SUV and then down to a MUV. But looks cool and chunky.

This is Hyundai Sonata replacement. Nice car, will give a tough competetion to Accord, Camry and Mazda 6.
But by that time there will be new Camry, Accord might as well receive a some exterior update and Mazda 6 also can receive some updates.

The problem lies here, Mazda and Nissan offer great chassis, Accord and Camry being settled down as reliable and almost middle of the road ( the new Accord shifts itself to Nissan line ) approach that does almost everything fine. For hyundai to slot in between will be tough.

Even the Ford Mondeo will be there to beat and as we know Ford cars are know for Handling ( along with Peugeot ) and here again, it can be tough for Hyundai.

EDIT : The engine is going to be Hyundai's R-engine. 2.0 ltr 181 bhp and 2.2 ltr. 197 bhp.

While the possible launch of a Hyundai i40 is not being questioned, the images posted belong to the 2006 Hyundai Genus concept car.

For more info, please go to :::::: Hyundai Motor Company:::::: and click on 2006.

Scoop! Hyundai i40 for India

What you can see here are pictures of the new mid-size sedan from Hyundai which will go on sale early next year. This model is set to replace the current Sonata line-up, with an aggressive design which is now defining all the latest Hyundai's. And you guessed it right, the 'Sonata' badge might be dropped as well, to follow the Korean carmaker's new 'i' naming conventions.
This sedan will most likely be conferred with the 'i40' tag when it takes on the mid-size luxury sedan segment. The car will grace Hyundai's exhibit at the upcoming Auto Expo and is expected to go on sale in India by Q2 2010 at a price bracket ranging from Rs. 14-lakh to Rs. 19-lakh for the petrol and diesel variants. We speculate the India model to be powered by the same range of Theta-2 engines that do duty under the current model. As the photos show, the interiors will sport an upmarket feel as compared to the current model, and Hyundai are to be believed, will also sport high quality materials similar to the ones we have already witnessed in the i10/i20. At the price bracket mentioned above, we feel this car will be one helluva value offering and has the fire-power to break the jinx that has been plaguing the India Sonata all this while!

whats with hyundai? in the first pic, the front apes Ford's kinetic design look. In the '140 for india' pics the grille clearly looks copied from Hondas.
