The new Kia Soul.

Small cars are the in things today. Even in the Americas. Hyundai decided to answer the market in a big way with the lifestyle car named Soul.

Hyundai is smartly bringing in Kia as the bread and butter model and taking hyundai brand up with the new luxury cars such as genesis and Azera.

Check it out.

The Kia Soul’s speakers change their glow according to the beat of the music played!

Soundstream speakers with light effect. The link also has a video.

Peer into a Soul

In 2007 I would've just written Kia off. Even Hyundai for that matter but.........

Now what is this supposed to be? Seems like some competition for the Scion XB.
I see parts of the Range Rover,Honda Element and a few other cars in this one!

Or maybe I'm seeing things ..:P

Yup. Definitely looks very distinct and young-ish.

Trouble is, this isnt the right time for a 'lifestyle product' launch.

How respected is the Kia brand overseas? I drove one in the US and found it to be very good. As good as a comparable Toyota.

I dont think its present in very many markets but Hyundai is clearly taking a bold step.

positioning Hyundai as a luxury segment brand. (Genesis, Azera)
Positioning Kia as a mainstream segment brand.

looking at the craze for small cars in US, Kia should do well.

Kia offer 10 years(or is it 7 years) unlimited mileage warranty on drivetrain and critical components. Bumper to bumper its 5 years unlimited.
That, coupled with the cheap price have catapulted Kia and Hyundai into mainstream cars in the US. Esp with the slowdown, Hyundai and Kia are among the new favorites in the USA. I have a friend there who used to say till 2007, I will never buy a Hyundai, only Pizza delivery boys buy that. Currently he is deciding whether to buy a Sonata or the Kia Sorento entry level SUV!

Both Kia and Hyundai offer 10yr/160,000 km warranty of powertrain. Since 2007 GM also does this.
