While Suzuki’s Geneva Auto Show press conference concentrated on the launch of the new Alto model, we spotted another premiere that we’d much rather have.

It’s no supercar (this is Suzuki after all) but it’s one hot-hatch - the Swift Sport Anniversary Edition.

Made to celebrate the company’s 100 years in existence, the Swift Sport is a little 125hp four-cylinder model that may not have all the power you want but it certainly has the looks.

The Swift Sport gets a complete aero kit with an aggressive front end, side skirts, an intricate rear bumper with two exhaust pipes and a roof spoiler. The most obvious feature, however, are the 18-inch wheels, coated in 215/35/18 Yokohama rubber.

The inside is also as surprisingly nice as the outside, with dark black plastic, some nice faux-aluminum trim and even black and red cloth seats with some nice red stitching.

It is available only with a five-speed manual transmission and comes standard with ABS and stability control.

This specific model is only offered in Switzerland, with a rather significant asking price of 33,925 Swiss Francs (roughly $29,000 - INR 14,50,000… that’s almost double the price of a standard Swift).

I'm guessing one is the reverse light(white) and the other is the reverse fog light(red)

Looks pretty sweet though.
I just wished they sold it here with that engine, or at least the 101bhp 1.5L variable valve timing one they sell in the UK.

Definitely the swift sport will make it to India. But the difference will be that it will have the same engine and some added graphics to it without the body kit and the rims...

Ok, suppose Maruti launches it @ 8 lakhs.
People would think "why should I pay so much for this hatch? I could pick up a Fiesta 1.6/SX4/Linea for this kind of money" This reaction would reach Maruti with stocks piling up and they would lose the motivation for enthusiast cars.

Hence the words 'Something like this' my friend I agree that an 8L hatch is just too steep but its a face that MUL downsizes engines for economy, levy benifits etc so maybe even something close, performance or aesthetically for that matter wouldn't hurt.... Like the basic swift sport sold abroad, thats hot! and for a country that just laps up the swift, its silly not to bring that car, engine or aesthetically to india... know what I mean?

sir there is always a scope for a limited edition for people willing to buy it.if people can shel 5.5-6 lakhs for getting one and then 2 lakhs for modding it,wont they buy it if its for 8lk and with an 101 bhp engine.i have always felt that maruti has always been too much attached with the people cars philosophy rather than providing a wide range of cars.
and man those 18 inchers are awesome.cant even think of riding on them here.
