Ooooh, thats one awesome engine the M5's got.

Nitrous, I dont agree man. The CLS has got way more style than the M5, but lacks in the poke and entertainment departments, so they appeal to different kinds of people.

Lemme just say... its already here... yup confirmed news of an E60 M5 in Mumbai. Yet to see it personally though.

That engine is just one helluva beast. That it got the engine of the year award is no surprise. Imagine a 5 Litre V10, individual throttle bodies, Bi-Vanos, 11 different possible engine response settings... man that car is just techno-rocket.

BTW, in roll-ons (40-80/40-120mph) between the M5 and the Gallardo, the M5 nudged ahead slightly. Honestly, that car is no longer a performance sedan... its a supercar in a sedan shell.

Revv

P.S. 4th year running, the M3 has got the 3-4 litre engine award. Damn, can't any other manufacturer beat BMW in that segment?

This couldn't come at a more better time for Ford given the launch of the EcoSport round the corner.

re: The International Engine of the Year

Volkswagen 1.4TSI engine wins International Engine of Year 2014.

Volkswagen’s turbo petrol motor has won the International Engine of the Year 2014. Having bagged this award for the ninth consecutive time in the 1.0-1.4l category, this engine powers the Eos, Beetle, Jetta, Touran, Tiguan, Sharan, Polo and Passat.

Quote:
However, the downsizing is not yet finished: the latest addition to the TSI family is the 1.0 litre version delivering 66 kW / 90 PS in the new Polo TSI BlueMotion. This first one-litre, three cylinder direct injection turbo engine will be making its debut in the second half of the year, featuring fuel consumption of just 4.1 l/100 km and thus a CO2 figure of 94 g/km. Its predecessor, delivering an identical 90 PS, consumed 4.9 l/100 km (equating to 113 g/km CO2).

With active cylinder management (ACT), Volkswagen has since last year also been offering a technology that enables an additional reduction in fuel consumption by temporarily turning off the second and third cylinder.
