Mercedes Bionic car:The Nemo lookalike

This is the car and below

Its inspiration(the tropical Boxfish)

Allegedly inspired by a tropical fish, Mercedes-Benz unpacked its newest sustainable mobility concept vehicle at the recent DaimlerChrysler Innovation Symposium in Washington, D.C.

Dubbed the Bionic Car, the concept Mercedes-Benz fuses the biologically aerodynamic and space-efficient shape of nature’s boxfish with man-made diesel power and emission-control technology. By emulating the contours of the boxfish, the Bionic Car achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.19. Likewise, mimicking the skeletal structure of the fish yields impressive body rigidity, crash protection and light weight (approximately 15 percent lighter than a Mercedes A-Class). The car accommodates four passengers and luggage in an interior with muted marine colors and soft-touch suede and rubber surfaces.

Mercedes’ Bionic Car concept draws its biological inspiration and efficient engineering from the tropical boxfish.

Drive is provided by a 2.0-liter, common-rail direct-injection four-cylinder diesel routed through a continuously variable automatic transmission. The engine produces 140 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, good for a claimed 70 mpg and a 7.9-second 0-to-60-mph sprint.

The powerplant choice reflects DaimlerChrysler’s corporate philosophy, which emphasizes clean diesel technology with hybrids as a bridge to fuel cells. The Bionic Car lowers nitrogen oxide emissions by 80 percent through “selective catalytic reduction,” a process in which a urea solution (the organic compound found in urine) is sprayed into the catalytic converter in precise quantities. It reacts with nitrogen oxides, converting them into harmless nitrogen and water. Combined with a diesel particulate filter, the system returns emissions performance exceeding the most stringent U.S. and European requirements.

To aid in drag reduction, rear/side mirrors are replaced by video cameras with displays on the A-pillars and center stack. A panoramic—if impractical— windshield extends into the roof, the seats are comfortable and the ride soft.

Wasn't Nemo a clown fish?

Wow, a CD of .19 is amazing. 2ltr engine and 140bhp. Nice.

That actually looks like a mixture of a Renault Bepop/Bebob (spellcheck) and a Honda Insight.
