ID:308 is a 1952 Datsun DC-3 roadster.

It used the mechanicals of the Datsun 5147 pickup, notably the 860 cc Datsun D10 engine that pushed 20 bhp through a 3-speed gearbox.

A forerunner of the Datsun Fairlady sports cars, the Datsun DC-3 roadster could reach 84 km/h.

Spot on Ram. ID:308 is indeed the 1952 Datsun Sports aka the Datsun DC-3. In 1952, Nissan gambled and came out with their first sports car. It was actually a sporty looking convertible with an 860cc engine churning out a modest 20bhp, slated to a three speed non-synchro gear box, barely creating a top speed of 44mph. It was made with Austin A40 parts which Nissan built in Japan under license. It had leaf springs all around and was made till 1957. This car can be called the origin of the Fairlady.

Friends, this may be slightly tough for some.

This is a 10-inch long, 4-inch wide tinplate friction-powered toy.
It used to be made in India, by a company called Amar Toy who called the toy, "Minister Delux". Maybe ministers in India in the early sixties rode around in cars like this.

I played with one like this as a small boy in the early 1960s -- stuff little boy's dreams are made of.

ID:310 Any idea as to which real car, it was modeled on?

Hint: The turret-top aka greenhouse is inaccurate as it was intended to be a rugged li'l boy's toy, but the chrome identifies the car.

ID 310.

I bought one as a kid from Mahabaleshwar, and I still have it somewhere, much to the amazement of the family. Wish I had kept the box. I recall mine said Prime Minister, not Minister.

I cant be certain, but the ornametation on the bonnet and side tells me its a 1950 Pontiac Chieftan.
