Bentley Mulassne

New Bentley Mulsanne Marches into Frankfurt, gets Twin-Turbocharged V8 with 512HP - Carscoop
Built to replace the soon-to-be discontinued Arnage, the Mulsanne is Bentley's new flagship model that has been designed and engineered at Crewe from the ground-up. We already got a taste of the Mulsanne about a month ago at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance in California, but now Bentley has released further details on the limousine that made its European premiere in Frankfurt.

On the outside, the Mulsanne is less gaudy than the Rolls Royce Phantom but far more interesting than Daimler's S-Class-lookalike, the Maybach 57/62, which are the car's closest rivals. Highlights include the bold front design with the unusual quad headlamp arrangement and the huge front grille that echo the styling of the Bentley S-Type of the 1950s, the swooping rear end and muscular shoulder lines at the back along with the massive 20-inch or optionally, 21-inch alloy wheels.

Customers can choose from a huge range of 114 paint colors that include everything from unusual heritage colors and special satin to pearlescent finishes and duo-tone combinations. And if that isn't enough, Bentley offers an individualization programme where buyers specify the car with a unique color of their choice.

Moving on to the interior, the Mulsanne blends traditional styling and materials with high-tech gadgets and modern luxury amenities such as the multimedia system with 40 GB hard disc drives, satellite navigation, audio/video, personal data, telephone and Bluetooth connectivity. The entire cabin is encased within a "ring of wood" while most surfaces are dressed in premium leather.

Again, customers can select from what Bentley describes as a "virtually unlimited palette of leather hides", including 24 standard colours, of which three are new for Bentley.

Bentley says that while the firm's engineers where considering numerous powertrain configurations early on in the project, they concluded that a revised version of the 6¾-litre V8 engine would best serve their objectives for a engine that would "produce effortless torque from extremely low revs, maintain the highest levels of refinement and satisfy the strict current and future environmental standards."

In the Mulsanne, the twin-turbocharged 6¾-litre V8 produces an output of 512 horsepower and a massive peak torque of 1020 Nm / 752 lb ft that is now delivered even earlier at 1,800 rpm. The V8 delivers its power to the rear wheels through a the new eight-speed automatic transmission which, for the first time on a flagship Bentley, comes with steering-wheel mounted gearshift.

According to the VW Group-owned British automaker, CO2 emissions and fuel consumption are reduced by more than 15 percent in the revised powertrain.

Other mechanical highlights include the new air suspension system with continuously variable dampers and the also newly developed Drive Dynamics Control system that allows the driver / chauffer to calibrate the suspension and steering control systems to a preferred driving style.

German tunemeisters Brabus have just lifted the sheet off their new E V12 Black Baron sedan.
Packing a twin-turbo'd 6.3-liter V12, this one-of-ten wonder spits out a tidy 800 horsepower and 1,047 pound-feet of torque (no, that's not a typo). So equipped, Brabus says the demon tweaked E-Class will lunge to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and hit 124 mph in a sliver under ten ticks. Thanks to the axe murderer of a powerplant underhood and the aerodynamic-at-all-costs design, the Black Baron will reportedly top out at 230 mph – and when operated at saner speeds, it still manages to return 15 mpg. Won't your neighbors be pleased.

What price for Gotham glory? Check out the pics and then check with your financial adviser about cutting a slush fund check for $875,000!

Aston Martin Rapide: 477HP V12 Sports Saloon Makes World Debut at Frankfurt Show - Carscoop
SOme more pics of the breath taking AM Rapide!
The show-stopper of Frankfurt 09.
Note the "swan-wing" doors that open slightly upwards revealing the saloon's 2+2 seating layout. The boot capacity is 301-liters which is roughly the same size as the luggage compartment of the Ford Fiesta. But the Rapide's rear seats fold flat at the touch of a button to create a flat loading space, thus increasing the luggage compartment to 750-liters.

The Rapide, which has stayed true to the prototype model, will be offered exclusively with Aston Martin's hand built 6.0-liter V12 engine that makes 477HP at 6,000 rpm and 600Nm (443 lbft) of peak torque at 5000 rpm.

All that grunt is delivered to the rear wheels through a specially tuned version of Aston's six-speed 'Touchtronic 2' automatic transmission that allows the driver to change gear automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles.

The British firm has yet to release performance figures, but drivers should expect a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of a little over 5,0 seconds.

The star of the show is without doubt the Rapide. What a beauty. The Brabus E looks like a stealth fighter and those looks just say that it means business. Hate those rear wheel covers though.

Anything from Indian participants?

The REVA Electric Car Company announced the price of the REVA NXR – which starts at 9,995 euros for the lead acid version with leased batteries and also took the wraps off of the NXG, the company's next electric vehicle that is due as a 2011 model.

The NXR, which stands for NeXr Reva, is scheduled to go into production early 2010 and has a top speed of 65 mph with a 100-mile range. Standard charging takes eight hours, but the car can accept a quick charge in 90 minutes. The hatch can seat four, Reva says, and comes with the company's REVive remote emergency charge (i.e. a way for Reva to use the car's telematics to temporarily access more of the battery's capacity than is usually available). Reva's pricing structure for the NXR is flexible, with both purchase and lease options for the lead acid (called the NXR CIty) or lithium-ion batteries (NXT Intercity).

This is the Mansory Cyrus.
The car is DB9-based and has been redone in aerospace, pre-preg carbon fiber, and gets 28 extra horses. Well, all except the rear fenders because they couldn't shape the carbon fiber accordingly, so the carbon fiber -- extended in width by two inches from the original car – is glued to the standard panels with adhesive bought from Lamborghini. Otherwise it's all CF. No, the roof scoop isn't functional – but beauty makes no promises to functionality. The Cyrus will run you €380,000 on top of a DB9!

The Phaeton still looks too boring..even in black.Plush interiors though!
The Mansory Cyrus may look sinister, but is a waste of a DB9.
