Looks good, end of the day, you need to make good cars that are desirable at first sight

Look and Renault and Peugeot - they are not exactly 100% reliable but their cars are selling!!!

Fiat were in the same situ in the early 80's and it was the Uno that saved them but they never learnt their lesson

Also remember, an ex Audi man is running things in Fiat

there was never any problem with fiat engineering - and to top it all, all fiat cars now have the italian lineage as far as looks are concerned...so they look gorgeous as well (most of them).

but if they have to concentrate on the indian market - i see a 2 door hatch as absolutely a no-no.

Doesn't this share the platform with the next-gen Vauxhall/Opel Corsa? (Both due for a 2006 launch).

Well I liked all the FIAT cars rite from the 1st Uno days. They make real robust cars and this ones with the looks too. Killing in its segment ! Lets hope FIAT mkts it properly and not like Palio which flopped all due to bad mkting techniques !

In case you're in the market to buy a car, don't wait for the Punto.

It'll be a loooong time before it hits our shores.

Who, Demel? He got fired, as did Martin Leach? Italians are back in charge now.

Right on JJ...and for that reason the regular Punto will also be sold alongside. Could'nt they just find a different name?

5 star safety rating for Punto

Fiat's new Grande Punto has been awarded five star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. This groups the Punto with the best in class for adult occupant protection. Good going. Hope it makes to India. We need more safe cars on our roads.

Fiat Punto also availabale as a 5 door Hatchback

Hi,

Went to www.fiatpunto.com. This car is available both as a 3 door (i.e. 2 door with hacthback? door) and as a 5 door (i.e. 4 doors with hatchback? door).

Compare the actual 5 door with Shantanu's PS'ed version. Looks good to me..
