MINI Beachcomber Concept

The concept is described as a radically open body four-seater based on principals of the 1960s. Ideal for cruising through town, up mountain passes or breezing along the beach, the Beachcomber, just like the Mini Moke, combines the toughness of an off-road vehicle with the convenience of a minicar.

Measuring just over 13 feet in length, the Beachcomber comes with Mini’s ALL4 all-wheel drive system and reinforced A- and D-pillars for protection in the case of a rollover. Lightweight technology also helps to lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity.
Inside, the vehicle comes with a central speedo finished in the typical Mini design, numerous loudspeakers as well as special instruments for offroad motoring such as a liquid-sprung compass. The trim surfaces in the cockpit are finished in magnetic paint also used for the first time to create a special touch of flowing liquidity. Single seats with adjustable backrests are fitted at the rear and up top is a soft roof that comes off the body completely.

Might be a good ride but the front grille is ghastly and the rear wheel cover makes it look like a school-going girl carrying a schoolbag.

so this seems to be a perfect baby suv and I wish they at least change the back wheel cover of the vehicle and give doors to this car ,may be single wing door like SLS .

May be they thought it will not have many takers in India. Moreover such Open SUVs cannot be used in City. Especially in Chennai

Even I am curious to know the Price Tag.

This will be around 20K Euros +/- 10% and about the doors I think I read somewhere they were thinking of suicide doors like the Rolls Royce. I don't know if that is being done finally but that was on option I remember reading about in the other forum some time back or else they could also have a nice long door? Can't wait to see this on the roads and honestly this would be a perfect entry for MINI into India.

Slightly OT but does anyone know if BMW plans to launch the regular Mini Cooper in India any time soon? Given that the Beetle and F. 500 are both available the Mini should not be far behind
