Ferrari Enzo Replacement to get V8 with up to 700bhp

A replacement for the Ferrari Enzo is under continuous development as witnessed by these spy pictures here. The Enzo, named after the company's founder, is the pinnacle of Ferrari road performance which means its engine is at the centre of discussion. Currently a 6.0-litre V12 does its duty to the extent of 492kW (669hp).

But now a rumour claims the new car, codenamed FX70/ F70, might actually get a twin turbo V8 instead. Someone told CarsUK that Maranello is testing both V12 and V8 configurations and it seems the 8-pot is winning. Maximum power is expected to peak at around 597kW (812hp) for the V12 and 522kW (710hp) for the V8. Insider purists are arguing for the former while presumably company brass want the force-fed option.

CarsUK says its information is quite reliable as it comes from a highly trusted Ferrari customer who gets called when a significant model is developed. Apparently he was asked if he wanted an Enzo and his answer was in the affirmative. He later retorted with his own question, wanting to know whether it would be a V12 or a V8. The answer was V8. He was even told not to even consider turbo lag as it is now a thing of the past.

With a turbo V8, it sounds more like a replacment for the F40.

The new Enzo has to be NA or else the driving expeirence will be completely diff between the 2 cars. Or another option is to make it a high revving FI engine with no turbo lag.

Twin turbo V8? Sounds more like a new F40 rather than a new Enzo.

Somehow I'd prefer it if Ferrari stick to making normally aspirated motors rather than going back to forced induction.

They've experimented enough with the California too (hard top convertible, 7-speed dual clutch 'box, etc.) And that's very unlike Ferrari to be honest.

Lets hope that this new 'Enzo' is promising and at least better looking than the earlier one.

That rendering looks sweet.Hope the new Enzo comes close to those lines..!
NA V10 or V12 would have been more..er..charming,considering its going to be Fezza's flagship!

I don't get the logic behind a successor to the Enzo. It was named after the founder and was a one-off. So how/why can/should it have a successor?
Don't tell me these guys will capitalise on the 'F60' slang!

The Enzo was always slated to be succeeded by another Ferrari. Just like how the F40 was succeeded by the F50 and the Enzo succeeded the the F50.

The 'new' Enzo should be the Ferrari FXX with new skin IMO. The FXX has been tried and tested over the years and it's proved to be a good excuse for Ferrari! By giving a few lucky chaps some good track fun, they've managed to engineer the 'next' Enzo! Sneaky little fellows I say!
