I think this should be in the international section. By title, I mistook it for FIAT-INDIA's plan.

Just trying to figure, how does it affect India plans. Frankly, I don't see Fiat bringing in a "new" launch to India before auto expo 12. Till then it might be just consolidation of India operations.

Well are you considering a face lift also as a new launch? if yes then by 2012 Linea would have been in market for 4 years without a facelift, which is a bit too long. They should either launch a facelifted version when they launch the 1.4 tjet by first half this year or by first half in 2011 if they want to maintain the sales and fresh looks of linea.

I feel a car without a facelift for 4 years is a bit too long in the current competitive market and will start feeling outdated. And arent we all forgetting the end of the world in 2012

FIAT better hurry.

^ No, I am not considering face lift as a new launch. As a matter of fact, Fiat India must give a face lift to Linea in 2011. Personally, I don't expect to see a 1.6 MJD Linea prior to 2012. That should start the end of the world . Apart from this, A Punto EVO makes a good case for introduction. In the chart above, 2011 also mentions Fiat Panda and some 5/7 seaters.

Fully agree with you that four years is too long a time to leave a vehicle without any face/chin/cheek/bum lift.

In my opinion, Fiat will not make any changes to their existing line up for at least the next 12 months. The Linea is still to set the sales chart on fire. Minor cosmetic changes will be implemented. But as far as engine is concerned, the weak 1.3 diesel is here to stay.

OT: How is the 1.4 FIRE engine?

^ That's what I said. Next year might just be a consolidation phase for Fiat. A few launches as already foretold in auto expo 2010 will be there; like the 1.4 TJet and Punto Sports edition. But, we being mere speculators, we can only speculate. The "weak" 1.3 is only in context i feel. Same engine when plonked in different platforms, works quite "strongly". As far present 1.4 is concerned, I own Linea 1.4, and in my view, it is more than sufficient for people like me. You can check my thread here http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-d...tion-pack.html if you like.

People who like to bolt off the signal will obviously demand more.
