Nissan Cube - launching in UK

The engine is a 108bhp 1.6-litre petrol unit, which can be mated to a manual or CVT gearbox. Nissan's 1.5-litre diesel will be added to the range in May. The basic trim level is called Cube, and will include a glass roof, rear privacy glass and Bluetooth and cruise control. The higher Kaizen trim costs from £15,100, and adds an upgraded audio and navigation system, a rear parking camera and climate control.

The first 100 Cubes will be 'LDN' special editions, finished in a special brown colour with a matching suede interior. Priced from £14,600, standard kit will include climate control, rain sensing wipers and auto headlamps.
As with the Mini, Nissan will offer customers numerous personalisation options for their Cube, including exterior graphics.

Nissan has predicted relatively low sales of just 2000 Cubes a year in the UK.

Facts:
  • Price £14,600
  • 0-62 mph 11.3 sec
  • Max speed 109 mph
  • Weight 1230 kg
  • Combined 42.8 mpg
Engine Layout 1598 cc
  • Max power 109 bhp at 6000 rpm
  • Max torque 113 lb ft at 4400 rpm
Of course, Nissan has no plans of bringing the Cube to India. We will get the new Micra (or whatever Nissan chooses to call its all-new small hatchback) instead, which will go into production here in 2010.

Appears to be quite a practical car but all I can hear in my head is Jezza making fun of it!

Another quirky design!

Looks wierd but still cute in a way, although I would not like to buy one even if it was released in India.

For me,this cube looks like straight from concept to production. It look's totally wired, but at the same time it's not ugly.I like the way the AC controls are placed and the design looks cool. The hood and the grill resembles RR for me

Here it was nicely overshadowed by Kia Soul (Another box, a bit better looking though!).

One lousy design, IMO. I've only seen a handful of these around and most people detest the looks of it, including hardcore Nissan fans (talking about 5-8 time Nissan owners).
