Our old Esteem was known as Suzuki Swift (in other markets) from the time it was launched 1996 ? and our baleno was the second/third generation also known as swift elsewhere. India did not get the 4th gen car also known as Ignis. Finally we got the 5th gen which was a global launch and which is our present Maruti Swift. I think our swift was co-designed by Indians and Japs

OMG. That's like comparing Mayawati and Rekha. Sometimes old is also beautiful. No offence to Mayawati but Rekha is still a beauty just like the Esteem.

The Swift is a global product, but the Dzire contraption was designed and is sold AFAIK only in India.

This seems to be it had borrowed few cues from Baleno and and side view of Esteem.

Is this an old picture? It is obviously the previous gen Swift (a.k.a Esteem in our land)

Our Esteem without the boot was sold as Swift worldwide IIRC. Feel sorry for China if they still get these outdated cars.

What are we guys discussing?! What is called Esteem in India is called Swift out there. So where does the question of comparing this one to the Dzire arise?!
And IMHO the car pictured above looks weird, especially the front.

The Dzire is the replacement for the Esteem here. Thats the connection.
