Would you buy a Chinese car?

A survey (assuming it was reliably done!) in Germany threw up a interesting result. 1 in 8 Germans are ready to buy a chinese car.
how many of you are ready to buy a Chinese car? Take a look at some Chinese cars shown at the Frankfut Auto Show:

1. Zhongua. base model has a 2.0L engine priced at approx Euro 18,000 or US$22,000. The company Euro Motors Brilliance Auto expects to sell 5,000 Zhonghuas in Germany in 2005 and up to 40,000 cars all over Europe in 2006.

2. The new CD, made by Chinese carmaker Geely. The car costs about 10,000 Euro (around US$12,200). Top Speed 170 kmph.

3. the HQ, made by Chinese carmaker Geely. The small car, which comes with five gears and a 1.2 liter engine, costs about 4000 Euro (around US$4900).

Mods please merge the two threads.

Honestly, those cars look decently price. I would however, carefully scrutinise safety and quality before considering a Chinese product. My vote is for the third option.

The Palio is made in CHINA

If they could sell the Palio at a cheaper rate here I would be more than willing to plonk my hard earned cash on the car from FIAT.

Chinese cars use the USE and throw technology. As a stock car, we could may be use it. For any modifications on the same would be difficult

If I find the quality of the product, good. Assuming that China being one of the major growing markets for automobiles, they should and hopefully will make better cars in the near future which will be cheap, yet good on quality. There are many hit international cars being launched in China which may be the start of it.

I would preferably like to wait for their safety to improve.Only then i might `think` of recommending it.
I would personally never buy a chinese car.

I'd prefer to wait for 5 years atleast. But looking at the pics above, the cars look very very attractive in terms of looks and price.

I dont think we will ever be able to beat their cost structure. Why bother developing a 1-lakh car? Tata should get a chinese manufacturer to make the cars for them and export it to India, then badge it Tata.

There's a chinese hypermarket here (about 5 million square feet) where the standing joke is that you only need to wave Dhs.10 in front of them - they'll sell you the stuff for the smell of it, and if you actually give them the tenner they'll add the girl at the counter to your pack.

I would not prefer to buy a Japanese car! Quality is a issue and it only looks good! Nothing else!

Whats so exceptional about the Zhongua(looks Maybachish)! Its a 2.0L car with a 10L price! we get a Elantra on par!

Also if i am not mistaken some Chinese Auto copied Honda CR-V and made a FR-V and priced it lower! Honda sued them! Was it in China or japan?

I saw them in Nepal and they were all show-no go. Even old RX100s plying around can whip their asses.
