Ferrari SP1

While browsing through the net yesterday came across this special ferrari one-off for a wealthy japanese businessman. It is based on a F430 with no mechanical changes. This was around 2 years back.

I think it has been pretty well executed.

Did ferrari do the bumper design and stuff or is it aftermarket ?
I personally like the f430 Scuderia much better than this model.

Even Standard 430 looks better than this, IMO.
This has been designed by Fioravanti (Coachbuilder).

Exact price figures are not known, but it is said the factory charged more for Fioravanti's SP 1 than Pininfarina's P4/5 cost in total.

Source - COACHBUILD.com

Fioravanti's first 'Portfolio Special' is based on the F430 and called 'SP1'. This one-off was built for the Japanese collector Junichiro Hiramatsu who is an admirer of Fioravanti's style. He especially liked the F100, an earlier (unauthorized) Ferrari conceptcar by Fioravanti dating back to 1998. Hiramatsu asked Ferrari if they could build him a car like that and so they turned to Fioravanti.
Fioravanti designed the new body, but the car was built and sold by Ferrari.

The body of SP1 (Special Project #1) is almost completely new, except for the greenhouse (A- B- and C-pillars, wind screen and side windows) which is part of the stressed chassis structure. The new body panels are made of carbon fibre. The skirts, roof and rear bumper clearly show the material they're made of. The rear end of the SP1 is a bit higher and the air intakes are shaped by much sharper lines. The tail lights are taken from the 599 GTB. The nose doesn't look very different than the standard F430, because of the stock head lights, but Fioravanti stretched the nose a bit to make it look sleeker and lower. To match the stretched front end, Fioravanti had to apply some mascara and eye shadow around the stock head lights. The wheels are taken from a standard 430 Scuderia and the side mirrors are stock parts as well.

I'm not so sure I like the look of this car. The cooling ducts (or air intakes) behind the windows, the weird front splitter-cum-bumper look too overdone. The 430 and the scuderia are both very nice looking cars. No point trying to spoil the looks.

My first reaction was - So what? This is just another ferrari? But since my chances of owning one ever are pretty dim, i realized that its exclusivity for the owner. The nice part is ferrari went all the way to get the customer what he wanted. Now thats customer service!!

The two tone color seems to be drawn from upcoming 599 GTO. Check out the pic
