One of the most beautiful rally cars of all time is set to make a comeback! The Lancia Stratos was an engineering marvel which made it a very successful rally car during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Taken by an anonymous photographer, these spy shots were allegedly snapped on a Fiat test track near Milan.

And these are the renderings of the same.

This thing looks so modern in its outlook yet you feel an immediate connect with old one, thumbs up from my side. I would have loved to see some renderings in rally trim also.

looks like the tazmanian devil in tuxedo!! doesnt look as mental as its ancestor but definitely a looker!!

Car looks pretty good in my opinion. Modern, yet looks similar to the legendary statos

In Lancia anyway related to the FIAT group? Why is their concept car on FIAT's track?

FIAT is Lancia's parent company ever since 1969!

The gills on the bonnet, please have them on the new one as well even if they are for aesthetics/form more than function.

This might just a one-off concept for a car show. Also the car would look better if they made the lines a bit more simpler especially the front.

Lancia's were always beautiful and exciting to drive this one will also surely live up to the rally bloodline of the original.

This is brilliant! And looks totally production ready.Really hope it sees the light of the day!

Very nice!! Futuristic and modern, with the original classic car design carried forward. Not many designers can do this successfully.

It desperately needs bonnet louvres and scoops/slats around the wheel-arches! Oh, and a limited edition draped in the original 'Alitalia' livery! :)

It looks like a lovely little perky super-car of sorts! Let's just hope that it isn't a one-off.

Well it doesn't seem to. Check this out: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/10/r...-production-p/

The all new Lancia Stratos revealed!!
Like the 1970s-era Stratos, power reportedly comes from a Ferrari engine, this time a V8 probably donated from the F430. (The original used the 2.4-liter Dino V6.)
The bodywork has apparently been crafted in carbon fiber and as many as five prototypes may already be running. If so, this is not likely the one-off that was originally speculated, but a car that could see a limited production run like the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

Looks great, but will it perform as well as the original did in it's time? What I mean by that is will this thing wow us in 2010-2012 as much as the original stratos did in it's time?!

Can't wait to see how this thing performs. I'm sure it would give some of the 'lesser' sports cars a hard time, considering the fact that it's a small, little thing! The Porsche Boxster better watch out, this thing might well and truly be a handful!

P.S. The picture before the last one reminds me of a small toy that I had as a child! :D
