Supercharged Micra!!!

Nissan has planned a supercharged version of the 1.2 to join its existing line up. This engine now pumps out 97bhp and 142 NM torque. Impressive figures no doubt and will help push this more closer to hot hatch standards without sacrificing on the FE figures. It also comes with a Stop-Start system.

While the model has only been previewed outside India, but I believe there are definite chances the car will be launched locally especially since Chennai being the production and export base.

Funniest thing is that the nissan micra 1.2 supercharged will get tax benefits if it is ever produced in India!!

Nissar has never revealed anything yet on these lines for India.
Any press items? Scoops?

I highly doubt Nissan will launch the supercharged version in India. First let them set base in the Indian Market as a player, only then they can think about launching a beefed up version the Micra. I doubt any enthusiast will buy that ugly thing (no offence) even if its supercharged

aah, but the supercharged version can be used for good marketing mileage and brand building.

Personally I hope they get this version to india, if only to give a similar idea to other manufacturers.

Wow! considering its compact size and light weight, im sure itl fly with that supercharger in there. 97hp ! not bad atall. Im on the look out for serious hot hatches and if this 1 launched here i dont know if id go for it but id surely want to drive it extensively..

I seriously doubt nissan will plonk in this engine on the Micra. The Micra has not really created an image of a sporty car, rather has potrayed as a very efficient and easy to drive city runabout.

With almost all figures, price & 0-100 kmph To Be Announced & estimated economy figures, I wonder AutocarUK has justified its reputation of posting the first drive report.
It maybe a hot hatch, but, real world figures are needed to justify that, rather than a theoretical portray of the new car.

In Indian scenario, with sales of under 1k units, I think it would take more effort to bring few more people to showrooms than just a supercharger.

biggest blow-back to them in India in current situation is delaying the Diesel Micra.

I would really like to see how it performs. Its just a 3 cylinder motor.

While I'm all for more power, and hope Nissan India launches the super-charged 1.2 here, it really doesn't fit in with the Micra's positioning. The suspension is tuned for comfort, body roll is prominent, high speed stability just okay and the brake pedal mushy. It's a dull drive. Does more power make sense in a Micra that isn't really a driver's car to start with? Then, will enthusiasts take well to the quirky feminine looks? Would anyone buy a 6.xx lakh rupee Micra?

Agreed with Sir Alec : It's the diesel Micra that is most important to India.

Super charged and 97bhp? Don't how good it can be other than the torque that can be had in lower rpm.

Supercharged Nissan Micra in UK. Any chance of India?

Nissan

Any chance of this being launched in India?

And if it was, would we be queuing up at dealerships to put down our money for it?

Re: Supercharged Nissan Micra

1.2-litre, three-cylinder supercharged engine with stop-start system and produces 98bhp and 105lb ft of torque & 112mph : Impressive.

Didnt GM try once to sell it to us? And why a supercharger if Nissan can plonk in a better and powerful engine to do the job? Also, it will be cheaper ( has to !) and you dnt need much technical expertise.

Re: Supercharged Nissan Micra

Small Displacement Forced Induction Engines are the immediate future. Look at the Twin Air. Same Principal. More power, less displacement, less taxes.
