CLS 63 AMG - Official Details

Exciting design, ultimate performance and groundbreaking efficiency: this is what the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG is all about.

The top-of-the-range version of the four-door coupé is equipped with the newly developed AMG V8 biturbo engine, featuring a peak output of up to 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Nm of torque, as well as the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission. On top of this, the vehicle's fuel consumption of 9.9 litres per 100 km (NEDC) represents an improvement of 32 percent compared with the previous model (all figures provisional).

Maximum driving dynamics

The combination of an AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping system and new front axle, newly developed electromechanical AMG sports parameter steering, and also optional AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system, is synonymous with maximum driving dynamics.
Visually, the CLS 63 AMG impresses with its athletic appearance and distinctive exterior and interior design. The model's standard specification also includes innovative LED High Performance headlamps.

New AMG 5,5-litre V8 biturbo engine

The new AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine boasts a combination of innovative high-tech components which, in addition to spray-guided direct petrol injection with piezo injectors, also include a full aluminium crankcase, four-valve technol-ogy with camshaft adjustment, air/water intercooling, generator management and stop/start system.

With a displacement of 5461 cc, the eight-cylinder engine develops a peak output of 386 kW (525 hp) and torque of 700 Nm. In conjunction with the AMG Performance package, these figures increase to 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Nm. Both variants of the CLS 63 AMG achieve exceptional performance: acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes 4.4 and 4.3 seconds respectively, and the top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

Quantum leap: fuel consumption reduced by 32 percent

Despite a significant performance increase compared with the previous model, which had a naturally aspirated AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine producing 378 kW (514 hp) and 630 Nm of torque, the new CLS 63 AMG is some 4.6 litres, or 32 percent, more economical – which represents a quantum leap forward. The NEDC fuel consumption of 9.9 litres per 100 km equates to a CO2 output of 232 g/km.

First the SLS and now this, Mercedes is on a roll. The Specs look even more amazing when the frugal sipping habits are brought into the equation .

With the kind of cars Mercedes is coming with, I guess BMW's right of 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' should now belong to Mercedes-Benz. I love the new CLS and AMG has just made it better! Way to go!

Re: CLS 63 AMG - Official Details

Thought of sharing the pictures of a guest who will be in our office for few days. Numbers are not blanked as this is going to be a media demo car and will turn up in all auto magazines in U.A.E.

When I first saw it in flesh. Parked next to the CL63 AMG which I had the privilege of driving couple of times.

Got a chance to take some pictures in the empty parking lot few days later, thanks to the late summer sunset.

Have that menacing look. You will definitely give way if it appears in the RVM, especially with the DRLs on.

The 19" wheels add to the whole look.

An indication of what is inside that long nose. The mighty and efficient 5.5L V8 bi-turbo.

The full LED Tail Lamp and the Quad Exhausts.

Those are some smashing pictures of the car. The CLS AMG is for sure a stunner, be it in paper, in a monitor or on the road.

AMG needs to redesign its wheels soon. This look is getting slightly boring now. Especially as they have decided to put it on everything they make.

Re: CLS 63 AMG - Official Details

I had seen the car when I had gone to the Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands, UK. We had been there a s a part of the team building event and got an oppurtunity to test some fantastic machines. This was to perfect the driving techniques. I have attached a couple of pics (taken from mobile, sorry for the quality).

Re: CLS 63 AMG - Official Details

OT: The front sorta reminds me of the SLS AMG. Is it my eyes or does it really bear resemblance to the SLS?
