Formula 1 - The Singapore Grand Prix 2011

The fourteenth F1 race is taking place this week on Marina Bay circuit.

There will be a single DRS zone for this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. The DRS detection zone will be placed at Turn 4, with the activation zone right after Turn 5 and ahead of the longest straight of the Marina Bay circuit.

It will help boost overtaking on a track where it was been very hard in the past.

This way Formula 1 reverts to a single DRS zone after having used two at the Italian Grand Prix last week.

Here is an intro to the circuit by Mark Webber:
Singapore « Mark Webber

Tyre Compounds to be used in this race are:
1. P Zero Yellow soft (prime) and
2. P Zero Red Supersoft (option)

Re: FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX (Singapore)x

ah, another race, another fervent hope for a hamilton win.
not for the points, but to break the sheer monotony of the season.

Go brits!

Yes, I hope Hamilton or Alonso to win this race. But I doubt that DRS will help to overtake with the nature of this track.

Re: Formula 1 - The Singapore Grand Prix 2011

Rightly said! Its becoming too monotonous with Vettel winning. Though he deserves to be the World champion, let others also taste the champagne up there Go Alonso!!!

Re: Formula 1 - The Singapore Grand Prix 2011

I am rooting for Hamilton to win, he has made mistakes and had his share of rotten luck this season.. none-the-less along with Alonso he is the most exciting driver in F1 at the moment.

I will be at the Marina Bay circuit today to catch the action live, will share the pictures!

Kamui Kobayashi letting his Sauber fly in the 2011 Singapore Grand Prix Friday Practice.. Wow! What a pic!

That's some serious balls there. And he was on it again and again.

guess he tried doing it one time to many! Unfortunate way to end his run in Q2.

Force India running in good positions at the moment. Look good at the moment to get some solid points.

Re: Formula 1 - The Singapore Grand Prix 2011

Not the most spirited race. The usual Vettel dominance and the now obligatory Hamilton incident.

However, fantastic race for Force India! Simply superb stuff to finish 6th & 8th. Hopefully they can replicate the result at the Indian Grand Prix.

Re: Formula 1 - The Singapore Grand Prix 2011

Vettel finishes first, Button 2nd, Webber 3rd.
Alonso, Hamilton, and di Resta 4th, 5th, and 6th respectively
Rosberg 7th, Sutil 8th, Massa 9th, Perez 10th.

A shunt by Alguersuari with just about a couple of laps to go, brought out yellow flags, ending Sutil's chase of Rosberg. However, as Massa was chasing him, if yellow flags weren't there, he would have overtaken Rosberg, and Massa would have overtaken him, leaving him 8th as now, while Rosberg would have ended 9th. Massa was the bigger loser as he lost four possible extra points.

Re: Formula 1 - The Singapore Grand Prix 2011

Wow -it was great to watch some aggressive driving from Weber and Hamilton.
The highlight was Weber's overtaking of Alonso (twice) simply superb!
Hamilton ripping through the filed and catching up places -man what an aggression!

I very much feel that Massa has lost his sting as compared to the contrast when Hamilton was ripping through the field and catching up places.
