Japanese Grandprix 2011

One of my favorite tracks of a calendar year and am hoping for Vettel to do the honours here (glad that he dint do it at the worst GP of the season)

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

Someone help me with the Qualifying and Race timings in IST please?

Oops I got it - Thanks to the Formula1.com app for Android!

Qualifying 10:30 pm IST
Race: 11:30 pm IST

Unless I've got it all wrong!

Damn me! AM it is. My apologies!

mgh: My system is set on EST and changing it to IST will be causing some needless miseries. So the stupid question.

Thank you guys. Hope for a lovely race. Hope the reds n the silvers dont hand it over to the blues on a platter. Wont you guys be happy to see the championship decided at our own backyard? <wicked smile>

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

You don't have to change your system, the site gives you the local timing (IST for the INdian GP) or at your location. It does not change your system clock.

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

Button seems to be brimming with confidence after signing a new contract with McLaren, having topped the practice sessions on Friday. But one senses that Redbull has plenty in reserve, come saturday qualifying.

Lewis caught napping again. Screws up any chance for a pole position with that fast Mclaren in Suzuka today. Stupid!

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

Boy, qualifying was close! Get the feeling that if Hamilton had completed his final run, he might well have been on pole. Anyway, McLaren look strong at Suzuka. Hope they make a fight of it on Sunday.

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

1) Button
2) Alonso
3) Vettel

The race was dominated mostly by tyre changes. The highlight of the race was the perfectly timed pit-stop by Jenson Button to come out of the pit-lane ahead of Vettel. And of course, the way Alonso drove to ensure he took 2nd.

The Safety Car cameo was rather strange - Vettel couldn't capitalize on it though.

So, Vettel is the 2011 World Champion!

Overall, what a dull race! :P

PS : During the 2nd last lap, Steve Slater says, "Button has won the GP, Vettel has won the Championship and a superb drive from Ferrari. What more can a race enthusiast want". Yeah right! Certainly not such a boring race!

I'm sure the guy who retired from the race must be feeling terrible; to be the only one out on such a race!

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

Though Force India had a good start, they missed out at the end, and finished 11th and 12th just out of points. Sauber gained 4 points and Renault gained two points.
Not a disaster for FI, but they need to do better in the last four races.

Re: Japanese Grandprix 2011

Is it just me or did Button run out of fuel just before the finish line and slow down. It looked as if Alonso crossed the line just before Button.

Nope, its not you

Button did run out of fuel but crossed the finish line before Alonso. The finish line is behind the last position on the starting grid. I think you mixed the start and finish line

In a way he did. Fuel is taken from all cars at the end of the race for inspection; guess he had enough just for the sample! Quite a dangerous strategy indeed.

I think Button got way too caught up in the moment and did not realize Alonso was right on his rear. Would be funny if he missed out on the chequered flag the way Hamilton did in Qualifying!
