Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

IMO, J Lo backed off a bit in the last lap. Tires or because of a faster RCV? Whatever...it was a fantastic race. This is how races are supposed to pan out.

Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

He didnt back out, he took a slightly wider line going into the corner. If he had stayed a little inside he would've got a better run out on the main straight and could've passed marc. But yes marc's last lap was very quick and he had better gearing on the straight otherwise it was jorge's race all the way. he truly deserved to win.

They were continuously taking different lines as they were very close.

Marc had a (visually) faster accelerating bike under him. Whatever J Lo could have done, he had tried. He could only take him in the corners & maybe on braking which he did & was continuously trying.

J Lo did not take those lines as they would have touched. And my backing off comment wasn't directed at taking a different line as well. He, in the last lap, didn't attempt to go past or maybe he simply gave up. If he was persistent and if the M1 was as fast as the RCV, the result might have been different.

But, hats off to both and Congratulations to MM for this fab win & continuing his winning streak. Something, I am seeing for the first time in my life.

Probably in the last corner I should have stayed more in the inside to try to overtake him on the inside line but I made a mistake and went wider and it was impossible to overtake him on the straight
This is Lorenzo's statement.

Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

What a race again!

Marc Marquez, I'm running out of words to describe the young fella. 7 out of 7 this season. Mind boggling.

Race went down to the wire as usual. The Doctor came up just 0.5s behind Marquez while Pedrosa lost 2nd position in the last lap after he touched the rear of Marquez's #93 RC213V.

While Marc keeps amusing me, I am even more impressed by #46. A 35 year old fighting it out with a 21 year old!

Yeah, totally agree with akshay380.
It's amazing to see The Doctor back on the podium. There is still a lot of fire left in no.46.
Cannot write him off as yet.
Dani was very lucky not to crash.
Phew! One of the best high speed action drama.

Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

What a feeling it would have been for Rossi to see someone outbrake him and slide his bike right infront of him? Gives me goosebumps. Fantastic race.

I feel bad for Lorenzo. Something is not working for him. Maybe the design direction is trying to accommodate the other rider?

Contrarily, Jorge is the no.1 rider for Yamaha and Rossi is being made to play the second fiddle.

Vale has announced (officially) his contract renewal for two more years with Factory Yamaha.

How is Rossi being made to play second fiddle? He always had excellent relations inside Yamaha.

Looking at Lorenzo, he has had been excellent results the past seasons. One does not have a dip just like that. Its either tires or the bike.

Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

Jorge has been vocal on the lack of grip of the bridgestones on his bike. The fuel limit has not helped his cause either.

from the 2013 season, both him and Jorge Lorenzo will get equal treatment and support, however the development lead will go to Lorenzo with Rossi in a supporting role. This is down to the fact that Yamaha still views Lorenzo as their most capable rider to win the championship.

Valentino was and is still important commercially for Yamaha for his tremendous brand power.

Because he was asked to take a pay-cut or take a hike.

Things have changed now though. I believe its almost equal for both with slight favor to VR. (More points, bigger fan-base & brings in more $$$, better for development (bike) as well)

Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

It was salary that lead to exit from both Honda and Yamaha. A rider cannot grow beyond their resources, their resources are unlike F1. Yamaha had Jorge who was almost as fast as Vale.

Grip or maybe changes to suspension/geometry?

Re: The 2014 MotoGP Season

Marc Marquez claimed another MotoGP pole at the Sachsenring as his Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa crashed amid their qualifying fight.

Dani still is at the helm with 2nd position on the grid. Stefan and Aleix on the satellite Honda and Yamaha start from the second row.

Is it going to be another strike for Marquez today??
