Re: 2014 Singapore GP - Marina Bay Street Circuit - Race Thread

Also have to consider Suzuka which has high speed flowing curves all through the circuit. The pit straight and the back straight upto 130R are the main overtaking points in Suzuka that will have DRS zones. Without enough BHP, its going to be hard getting past the leaders. Also, in Suzuka one has to consider cars like Force India that have the mercedes power plant in the back. Even such teams will cause nightmares to Ferrari.

I hear Sochi is also a power circuit with longish straights. So that leaves only Brazil!

Nice to see Force India in 5th place in the constructors but can they move ahead and close the gap to Ferrari or will Mclaren catch up and push them down to 6th place.

Alonso looked extremely strong and good for a second place finish if it wasnt for the safety car. The ferrari was awesome on super softs but just didnt have enough on the softs to take the RBR's, despite him stopping later than Ricciardo and Vettel. Really hoped to see the ferrari on the podium but it wasnt meant to be. I dont think there would be such a opportunity on any of the remaining tracks. We go to Japan next were raw pace and downforce will play a huge role.

Vergne sure had an exciting race. He must have pulled off atleast 10 overtaking moves. True he did most of them by gaining an advantage at the run-off but still some exciting moves.

Anyone catch Magnussen cooling his hands off during the safety car period? The poor chap is being treated for burns apparently.
I was yelling and cheering for Lewis so much that the missus had a look at my face "I hope you care so much for all the pending stuff at home "

It was such a treat to see Lewis pull away with so much ease and everyone else struggling. As if everyone were driving Mark III Ambys

All in all a fantastic race. The only crib remains the SD broadcast on Star Sports. Does La Liga deserve HD always ? Singapore, Lewis, The lights and Rosberg's start (or whatever it was) deserve the HD !!

“Contamination” caused Rosberg’s Singapore failure

Quote:
Mercedes revealed on Twitter that “Forensic analysis has revealed that the steering column electronic circuits were contaminated with a foreign substance.”

“The contamination was not visible and did not manifest itself until Sunday as Nico went to the grid,” the team added. “The result was an intermittent short circuit in the electronic circuits meaning Nico Rosberg could not command clutch or engine settings.”
Was it coffee or something more exotic?

Jokes aside, Mercedes better get a grip on all these gremlins for the last five races.

Thankfully, Rosberg doesn't have many fans at this point. Otherwise, all the conspiracy theories would have started floating around.

P.S: I'm not a fan of Rosberg but it isn't impossible that someone did some tampering to "prove a point" to Rosberg, like he did to Hamilton in Spa.
