Loris Capirossi lead the race from start to end...It was truly a fabulous ride from him. Valentino Rossi, who finished 2nd, said he had problems wih temparature. Seems he did not exepct it to be so hot and that's probably why he switched to a soft front and a hard rear. Dani Pedrossa gave Rossi quite some scares but eventually it was the Doctor who prevailed.
Pedrosa started from way back on the grid and quickly passed Hayden for 3rd, the latter having rear tyre grip problems, and was relegated to 9th on the last corner. 4th to 8th were KRJR, Marco Melandri, Casey Stoner, John Hopkins and Shinya Nakano. Hayden was edged out by the last 2 in the last chicane.
Rossi really had front grip problems which could be seen by the fact that he was going slightly sideways on downhill curves, masking the front tyre problems. Those induced slides probably put him furthur away from Capirossi.
Pedrossa stole up on Rossi quite a few times but Rossi wouldn't let him stay in front for more than a few hundred mts. Capirossi rode a faultless race and his tyres responded very well.
Congrats Loris on a great race. Pedrossa and Rossi are now just 25 and 38 points behind championship leader Nicky Hayden. Should Hayden have one more bad race things will heat up really fast and he'll probably soon be out of contention.
Looking forward to Sepang on 10th September. |
