Hearing this news the first thing this morning has made me very sad :(
Jules is the first driver after Ayrton Senna to pass away with injuries sustained in a Formula 1 race.

It is with deep sadness that the parents of Jules Bianchi, Philippe and Christine, his brother Tom and sister Mélanie, wish to make it known that Jules passed away last night at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) in Nice, (France) where he was admitted following the accident of 5th October 2014 at Suzuka Circuit during the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Just heard the news. Sad indeed, to pay the ultimate price. But, I believe their is silver lining. Atleast, he (and to an extent his family) won't have to struggle any more. This is what worries me about Schumacher.
RIP Jules.

Sad news. A promising career nipped in the bud. One cannot but add how safe F1 has become, the first fatality after a decade! RIP Jules.
RIP Jules, he had great potential to be one of the great drivers.
Sad to see him pass away so young.
RIP Jules Bianchi, He sure did have a great aspiration for F1 and very disheartning to see him passed away. Prayers and wishes with his family and friends.
RIP Jules! The very first message from a friend and it was this. Very saddening and a big loss to Formula 1 indeed.

Terrible news! Was hoping he could make it.
One amazing talent lost. He would have been a Ferrari driver if not for that fateful crash.
Here is a snippet of that mighty race at Monaco where he finished 8th.

That remains the only points Marussia have ever scored so far. He finished P8, but 5 seconds was added to his race time for serving a penalty under the safety car, and he dropped one finish position to 9th.
RIP Jules! May God give strength to his family and friends.
Damn, that's terrible news. R.I.P. Jules and God bless your soul. Very saddened by a death in my favourite sport.

F1 is a relatively safer sport today. Jules was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was pure bad luck that made him slide off the track, right into that big recovery vehicle.

True, very true. He's been in coma since he had the accident 9 months ago!

Senna was killed in 1994 so TWO DECADES and not just one. He was either moving to or was under serious consideration by Ferrari.
That, is very sad.
A promising career- nipped in the bud.
R.I.P Jules.
This is such sad incident. Remember the race like it happened yesterday. How I wish they would have red flagged the race before the accident. Just to think of the agony his immediate family would have gone through in last 9 months. RIP Jules.
@Ross; I think the Virtual Safety Car is essentially in response to his accident. While F1 is far safer, unfortunately, fatalities in other forms esp Indy, NASCAR and drag are still aplenty.
Felt bad when the news came. It feels even bad when such things happen at very young age.
I strongly feel that F1 (and all other motor sport) should consider reducing the threshold of rains when deciding to race on wet tracks.
Heard of this on the radio on the way to work. Very sad to hear this news. Very potential talent and young too. Rest in Peace Jules. God be with the Family and the many fans!!
Just when we thought F1 had become boring and the cars had become slow, this happened :Frustrati
Absolutely terrible news. RIP Jules Bianchi. You will be missed.
I do have, however, a lame question fellas, please pardon the ignorance if any.
Why doesn't F1 use Airbags? Space constraints? Weight constraints?
Considering Jules passed away due to a head injury, even after wearing those super-awesome Carbon Fiber helmets, wouldn't have airbags helped in such a situation?
