Re: Rumour: Force India F1 Team might drop ‘India’ from its name Mallya is no fool. In Kingfisher Airlines episode maybe but he could have named it Mallya F1 or Mallya.
I remember the 2009 and 2010 days when Reliance, ICICI and a few others sponsored Force India.
Mallya back then was trying to sell Kingfisher beer by associating it with international repute and prestige to the Indian consumer.
Now that he sold his stake in Kingfisher to Diageo and his liquor interests have lessened, he may not have to worry about the Indian subcontinent and its consumers at all.
Mallya despite his failures and nuances is rational. I bet him buying Gandhi's belongings in New York was to enhance his credibility reputation and make news. Mallya is like Kim Kardashian to the fifth power.
