Alexander Albon replaces Pierre Gasly at Red Bull F1

Red Bull Promotes rookie Alexander Albon to senior team after just 12 races, out-of-form Pierre Gasly drops back to Toro Rosso from Belgian Grand Prix. Dropping of Gasly was on much expected line as he had underperformed compared to his teammate Max Vestappen.

Wonder why Alex Albon was chosen ahead of Daniil Kvyat. Though Kvyat had bad seasons at Red Bull before, in his current form, he would have given good fight to Max Verstappen. Danill Kvyat has 86 race experience vs Albon's 12 and experience does matter in F1. Let's wait and watch

In 2015 and 2016, Daniil Kvyat was given a chance to drive the Red Bull racing team. He was dropped to make way for Max. I guess the team management wanted something new on plate and not have same set of problems.

As some one had rightly pointed in Hungarian GP thread, if Gasly would have been competitive and kept pressure on Mercedes, Hamilton would have not pitted.

Redbull already knows what Kyat can do. He is fast but prone to crashes. So looks like they are evaluating Albons performance for the rest of the season so that a final call could be made on 2020 lineup. Redbull be mighty upset that they didn't take Carlos Saniz instead of Gasly as Carlos was on loan from RB to Renault. Now he is on a multi year contract with Mclaren.
