Re: Formula 1 : The Mexican GP 2019

A boring race. Except for few fights in midfield.

Leclerc was little unlucky during the pit-stop and then a mistake when he was closer to Bottas. A missed opportunity to be on the podium for him.

Verstappen within the mix would have been more interesting.

I liked this idea of the winning car sharing the podium.

Re: Formula 1 : The Mexican GP 2019

How does a team with the fastest car on the grid that qualified P1 and P2 (yes I know max was P1 initially), then the 2 cars started off the race well and were in 1-2 for first 22 laps still land up in P2 and P4 at the end.

The Ferrari strategy was reactive rather than preemptive and they were completely clueless when Hamilton pitted early and Vettel just said let him go.

Then the mess up with Leclerc in the pits making him push harder and make more mistakes.

I was hoping Leclerc would come out close to Vettel and Bottas and easily pass Bottas and then Vettel would let him by to challenge Lewis with fresher tyres.

Lewis in the end was brilliant with the tyre management as well so the messed up Ferrari strategy just ensure they were not in the game even with the quicker car.

Goes to show it's not about how quick the car but how smart the team is and Mercedes have been brilliant at execution even without outright speed.

Ferrari can't become a champion, until they get a master tactician. I can't think of anything other than tactical faults that have have lost races for Ferrari on number of occasion.
Mercedes is Mercedes not just because of the drivers, it's their strategy that works for them day in and day out.

Hamilton is just brilliant and making the entire F1 boring (not his fault though)! If he continues at this pace he'll easily overtake Schumi

Ironically, if the mess up had not happened, LeClerc would have been on the podium and Lewis would walk off with the championship.

Anyone noticed the close bonhomie between Vettel and Bottas after the race?

Mercedes is Mercedes not just because of the drivers.
Not so long ago we were gaga about the Ferrari pit strategy, but now ... Ok Leclerc lost 4 seconds due to a baulky right rear tyre. However Vettel had no such issues. He was 'fixed' by Hamilton fair and square. High time Ferrari got Todt back. I remember the race where Hamilton wore his tyres down totally.

Now the US GP this weekend. By the looks of it at least one Practice session is not live on Star Sport.

Here's an orchestral take on the f1 theme. Never really bothered to pay attention to it before the race, but it's a fairly decent tune, ain't it?

Yes. This week, they even shared a beer after a press conference/interview. Vettel and Bottas seem to be bonding well.

Bottas reminds of Rubens Barrichello so much. I think he is one of the best out there but unfortunately ends up playing second fiddle to LH all the time. I still hope he gets a good shot at the championship this year and give LH a good run for the title.

Personally, I dislike Hamilton a lot. However, on Sunday, he showed the world that he is the G.O.A.T 'racer' and Mercedes is the G.O.A.T 'constructor' as on date. The team's strategy was unmatched.

P.S: I had stopped watching F1 after Schumi had retired, but Leclerc has got me back following the sport again. I think he has some time on his side to get his act together and can give LH some real good competition next year.

Go Ferrari!! Okay, may be next year!
