I would like to express by way of my model cars - across various scales. The Subaru Impreza with its unique blue shade and gold rims is my favourite livery!

Some of my favorite liveries, apart from those already mentioned

1. BAR from late 1990s, the split livery of Lucky Strike and 555 was very different from what was seen before, the car and livery both did not set the world on fire, but the concept was unique.

2. The yellow Jordan Mugen Honda with B&H was a distinct car in 90s and in countries where tobacco ads were banned, they would change B&H to Buzzin Hornets

3. Mclaren early 2010s, they changed silver to chrome and with the Vodafone red she was a looker. I also liked JBs union jack helmet a better match than LH's yellow

4. Williams FW40, another iconic Martini livery, the colors and flow just on point. The accessories from this livery (t shirts, jackets) were a treat to the eye, and i missed getting one

Closer at home, i loved the Mahindra adventure XUV.



There are a number of other examples as well, like the Force Gurkha in the rain forest Challenge, the VW Polo Cup vehicles.

In F1 i love the West livery. This is the best to me till date.



Among other racing I love the Gulf livery on GT40.

It has to be the Martini livery for me. I remember drawing those red and blue lines on my toy car as a kid. Also, I feel it is the Porsches that look best in the Martini livery as compared to the other cars.

Yes the switch to black was 2014 with the start of the new power unit era. 2014 was definitely more striking. But that nose, although painted black to hide it, spoiled it for me.

Was surprised to see someone mention the simple Sauber C11. It sure is an icon from the classic Group C era. Here's a shot from the Schumacher Museum in Cologne that I visited last year (should probably get round to sharing the photos on a thread..)


Was surprised one of the best F1 liveries didn't get mentioned. Luckily due to ol' Michael's debut, it too was present at the museum. The green and blue 7Up liveried Jordan 191!


I'm seeing a lot of niche stuff like drift cars, all well and good but you can't beat the classic cigarette liveries of yesteryear. Some absolute doozies out there.

I also think it's worth including the V10 Peugeot 905 of Le Mans winning fame -


Finally, I'd say a really iconic livery before sponsored liveries became a thing, at least in F1, we Have to include the green and gold of Lotus. Could use any example and you'd know instantly Colin Chapman had a hand at it, whatever the discipline it was competing in -

The Picture of the F2000 MRF Challenge from MMRT Chennai was one thing that suddenly striked my mind.



And then came this Ameo from the Ameo Cup.



There are much more occasions that witnessed the presence of this Indian brand in Motorsport Radar.

Although Red Bull F1 cars have been featured here already, I am surprised their sister concern Scuderia Toro Rosso hasn't so far. 2017 onwards, they went down a different path livery-wise which has produced some of the more stunning cars on the grid to look at.

Here is Pierre Gasly in his STR14 out-dragging Lewis Hamilton in his W10 to the finish line at the dramatic end to the Brazilian Grand Prix 2019.

For context, that's a Honda power unit out-dragging the all-conquering Mercedes unit up the hill to the line. Thrilling stuff.
