If you had to choose just one?
A drivers chances of winning is greatly influenced by what he drives and i expect this to be the lineup in 2022.

Max - Red Bull
Leclerc - Ferrari
Lando - Mclaren Merc
Gasly - Renault Alpine
Russel - Mercedes

If i had to choose, Leclerc, but i am a tifosi

The lineup is spot on. Hope the cars are closely matched in 2022.

Checo Perez for me. Followed by Russel and Ricciardo. Then by Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. So these are my top 5.

Re: Vote for your F1 driver of the year!

I voted for Perez, although i am rooting for both Perez and Max Verstappen.

Checo impressed everyone with his skill outperforming his own team mate relentlessly. Setback after setback he is able to bounce back with out a shred of doubt. Which makes him the driver of the season.

Max is aggressive best, he put the pressure on the Mercedes duo and has taken the fight to them even without a perfect car. Wish him all the very best to his future with Red Bull.

I keep brining myself to appreciate Lewis Hamilton. Sometimes i do. However, i have not been able to fathom why is he so great. In my books, he is not, somehow. Before you judge me, i have a very good reason for my lack of love towards Lewis. Lewis Hamilton and Micheal Schumacher are always going to be compared, and my predicament starts from here.

Lewis and Micheal are both dominant drivers of their era. Both were blessed with a dominant team and cars. Skill levels are god like. However, Micheal built upon his success being part of numerous mid field teams before landing into Ferrari. Unlike Micheal, Lewis has been part of Mercedes team all his career, which brings us the question of what he will be like, if he steps into a different car. Does he race in anything else than F1? No. What if he drives Ferrari's 2020 F1 car? what would be the result, I wonder. So in conclusion. Micheal Schumacher left nothing to prove to the world. He was, he is and he will be G.O.A.T for me.

Checo for me. Missed two races because of Covid, got screwed by his team in another couple, the car failed him in Bahrain and still finished 4th in the standings with a last to first drive in the Sahkir GP.

Hamilton! No matter the car, it's the man. None of his teammates barring Nico for 1 year could even come close.

I vote Sergio Perez. Looks like he will be joining Red Bull for 2021. Not officially confirmed but reported by Ted Kravitz.

Voted for Hamilton. The most consistent driver and the one who made the east mistakes in the season.

Haven you seen the GP2 2006 turkey race ? Lewis Hamiton racing in GP2 car. The race itself explains how he got seat in Mclaren in 2007 .

Yes I am not contesting Lewis Hamilton's talent here. He is one of the greatest racing drivers there will ever be. I am just more in awe of Micheal as he fought his "F1" turf in other smaller F1 teams. He also raced in 24 hours of Le Mans. For me that's what makes him more interesting.

Re: Vote for your F1 driver of the year!

I feel Sergio Perez deserves a seat for the wealth of experience he has in the sport and we have seen that whenever he has the opportunity even during his time with Sauber, Force India and Racing Point, he has always ensured he made the maximum out of those and turn them around for the team.

Having said that, I wanted to vote for Max but he drives a Redbull which happens to be the only worthy competition for Mercedes. He had a cracker of a season but the Mercs were simply unbeatable in 2020 and to win in Abu Dhabi was outstanding.

I loved the fact this season too us all to some of those classic old circuits and it would be wonderful to see them all again.

My pick other than Checo and Max would be

George Russell - The kid's got talent! It is about time someone pulls him out of his current team a gives him something to compete with
Daniel Ricciardo
Pierre Gasly
and finally, Nico Hulkenberg. I simply cannot understand how someone of his talent and experience doesn't have a race seat.

Re: Vote for your F1 driver of the year!

Voted for Charles Leclerc. Outstanding performance considering what Ferrari was this year. His qualifying lap in Q3 of Sakhir was one of the top moments for me this season. It was a tough choice b/w George and Charles, but the tifosi in me swayed towards Charles.

2022 is where I'm seeing an aggressive lineup with George ,hopefully in a Merc, Charles with the sorted Ferrari, Vettel in the Aston Martin which could possibly be the dark horse and Max in the Redbull.

Can we just skip to 22' please?

Hamilton! Of course, for his sheer consistency

Initially, I dismissed him to be another young rookie who would not last long, but boy, was I so wrong

Lets wait and watch, who is next.
