Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

What a ride by Jorge Martin. Back after a horrific crash in Portimao, Martin wins a race starting just his sixth race and that too on a satellite Ducati.
Mir and Quatararo completing the podium. Fabio extended his championship gap, almost having a hand on the trophy. If he finishes on podium each race, that would be enough.

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

Vinales is suspended from Austrian GP by Yamaha for unexplained irregular operation of the motorcycle. It hasn't been revealed what exactly Vinales did but it is speculated that he revved the engine unnecessarily, potentially damaging the engine.

https://www.motogp.com/en/news/2021/...rian-gp/385291

Vinales is not known to hold back his emotions when things go wrong. So when he had to start from the pit lane for the restart, I believe he did something stupid to show his anger. He didn't even finish the race but pulled into the pits on the last lap.

More things are pointing in the direction that this is the last nail in the coffin of Yamaha and Vinales relationship. Even In 2012, he withdrew himself from the Malaysian Moto3 race when his team refused to move him up to Moto2 after a bad season. He found a ride for himself for next season and went on to win the Moto3 world championship. Is history repeating itself? Nobody knows.

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

Petronas will no longer sponsor SRT (Sepang racing team) and as a result, they will wrap up their Moto3 and Moto2 teams.

https://www.motorsport.com/motogp/ne...rship/6646399/

Shocking news indeed. The future of Darryn Binder, John McFee, Jake Dickson and Xavi Vierge is unknown. Even their MotoGP lineup is not decided yet. They will have two 2022 spec Yamaha next year, but due to dropping out of their title sponsor, they won't be able to get the best of riders.

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

God !! What drama.

Yamaha has all the trouble coming their way! Rossi announced his retirement, Vinales is being suspended due to bad behavior with no clarity about what would happen to his seat for the remainder for the season. Morbidelli is on sick leave at the moment.

Too make things worse, Petronas is now backing out of racing altogether.

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

Next weekend at Silverstone GP, we will have Fabio Quartararo and Cal Crutchlow in the Factory Yamaha Team. Valentino Rossi would be joined by Jake Dixon from Moto2, who would be replacing injured Franco Morbidelli.

Two British riders in MotoGP this year for the British GP !

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

No doubt now. Fabio is gonna win this world championship. He has shown his class yet again. Aprilia's podium was great to see. Aleix has been with Aprilia through the worst of times and now he reaps the benefits of all the hard. Would be interesting to see what Vinales can do on the Aprilia considering he outperformed Aleix by a huge margin in 2016.

I am going to place my bet on Marc for the next GP at Aragon. It's a track where Honda works well and Marc loves it too.

What an amazing race. Marc tried the Rossi tactic of Laguna Seca. Not once did pecco crumble under pressure. Robotic precision!

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

Marc Marquez made an interesting comeback at the Austin GP. The Spaniard started 3rd on the grid and won the race at the COTA, his 7th win at the circuit and 2nd in the entire 2021 season (first win was at Sachsenring). Following him at 2nd place was the World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo. Francesco Bagnaia finished 3rd.

After the Austin GP at COTA, Quartararo continues to lead the 2021 World Championship with 254 points. Bagnaia has bagged in 202 points so far and stands at 2nd place. Joa Mir has occupied 3rd place with 175 points.

Re: The 2021 MotoGP World Championship

And Fabio is the 2021 MotoGP world champion. The sportsmanship that everyone showed in congratulating Fabio, especially by Ducati riders and team was amazing to see.

The crash fest all through the weekend ensured nothing was decided before the finish line. Marc was amazing and wise in back off at the right time. Enea Bastianini, Pol Espargaro, Zarco, Maverick are some other honourable mentions.

I wish the rumour that Davide Brivio is coming back to Suzuki is true because the whole season and especially this weekend for them has been humbling.

Agree, the sportsmanship was fantastic. Nice celebration from Fabio too.

Suzuki seem lost without Davide Brivio, the sooner he returns, the sooner the Suzuki gets direction is what I feel. A lot of fast riders for next season. 2022 is going to be interesting however without the doctor.
