Re: Formula 1: 2021 French Grand Prix - Circuit Paul Ricard (18-20 June 2021)

One more fantastic race this year. It was supposed to be a boring race thanks to the track's reputation, but oh boy! was glued to the screen throughout.
Finally Redbull have got a capable 2nd driver and they are leading the constructor's by quite some margin. Would love to see another constructor winning this year and ending Merc domination in turbo hybrid era.

Re: Formula 1: 2021 French Grand Prix - Circuit Paul Ricard (18-20 June 2021)

That was heartbreaking, but inevitable.
Mercedes had maybe one lap to react to Max's stop, after which it was too late, and there was no option but to carry on.

At worst, this will be a hard fought season for Mercedes. This just might go down to the wire, but I am trusting that Lewis and Toto will be flexing soon enough.
What I am sure of, however, is that with all the recent developments, Bottas is definitely going to be very defiant now onwards. He has had it with being number two, but unfortunately is not talented enough to take it to Lewis and Max. Russell will be a welcome change next year, but I dont think he will be a number two for long, based on the short stint he had in the Merc.

This is bound to happen to Mercedes, as they started to think that they are irreplacable. They have now become Ferrari with their mistakes. The pressure is on them. They need to step up and take the rest of the races more seriously. Also, they should not make Bottas to become Vettel (in 2020)

Overall, I am happy to see Vettel scoring points (third time in succession). This was a very difficult track. The only magic is to have proper tyre management.

Great race and happy to see that there is a fight this year! Super happy for McLaren!

One observation is how content Lewis has been in some of the races he has not won. The typical Lewis would be super unhappy and the disappointment will be written on his face. He won't even be celebrating on the podium. I'm sure in the post-race debrief he would have gone ballistic. I feel he was able to channelize the loss into his strength and come back super strong in the next race. This year he is all smiles... clearly, this is a change in him.

Can't wait for the next race!

I am really happy as a Seb fan, he's in points for third time in a row and almost beating his 2020 points.

His first stint was as good as Perez and he went on 37 laps with those Hards. He made a mistake and dropped 4 seconds in one lap along with a slow pitstop cost him P6-P7 at least. Danny Ric finished the race only 4 seconds ahead.

It’s sad and bad to see Bottas, his bad luck and to add insult to injury Mercedes don’t even listen to him or consider his side in anything.

The rumour of Russell in his seat for next year seems more and more believable now seeing how everything is unfolding and mainly how Bottas is voicing his frustration/displeasure openly over the radio with a few cuss words thrown in for good measure.

Hamilton will be really pushed if Russell indeed becomes his teammate. Let’s see, whatever happens it going great for us without the boring show it had become in the recent past.

Cheers

Brilliant race by RBR, what a sight to see 2 bulls hunting down the silver arrows.
There are few amazing takeaways from this race.

1. Midfield pace is nowhere near Merc and RBR- Without any Safety car or red flags, this race purely showed the team strength. McLarens finishing almost a minute after RBR shows how advanced the top 2 teams are.

2. Aston Martins managed their tyres brilliantly.
L.stroll climbing from P19-P10 was brilliant, seb also drove really well.

3. G.Russel driving that Williams to P12.

4. Tyre management is as important as Race Pace. Checo and Aston Martins proved that clearly.
